Do you hate it when someone says they are proud of you?

It depends on why the person tells me they're proud of me. I'd like to punch my therapists for telling me that because they say it for everything I do and I just feel like an incompetent idiot. It's different when I comes from my family members or my teachers though.

Yeah because people treat me like a ret*d so it means I did something anyone "normal" could easily do.

TBH, every time I hear that phrase or some other compliment my first thought is: Ok, what is it you want from me? I've seen compliments be a stepping board into requests and demands too many times to take them at face value initially.
