There is no meaning. Why would you think there is a meaning or need one?

What is the meaning of thing?

LOL. Shades of Sarte. Being and Nothingness is a fantastic cure for insomnia. Six pages and I'm out cold. We are condemmed to be free, boo hoo. Thus Spoke Zarathrustra about the sickening quality of existence.

There is nothing new under the sun. Your thoughts have already been thunk.

The meaning of life is to have sex and die, hopefully leaving behind genetically superior (to those around them) offspring to carry your genes onewards.

As my grandad once said to me
"When you come into life you have nothing, when you leave you have nothing"
therefore - whatever you do in it will eventually amount to nothing for you personally.

Life is ultimately the path to death, when your dead your measured by a persons memory of yourself - so therefore, life is the impact you have on others so that your memory may live on. This impact may be positive or negative, often it will only last a couple of decades, sometimes less, sometimes a lot longer.
This has inspired me to create another thread....

Lifes a journey not a destination and I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings

Amazing by Aerosmith

I kept the right ones out
And let the wrong ones in
Had an angel of mercy to see me through all my sins
There were times in my life
When I was goin' insane
Tryin' to walk through
The pain
When I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I thought I could leave but couldn't get out the door
I was so sick and tired
Of a livin' a lie
I was wishin' that I
Would die

It's Amazing
With the blink of an eye you finally see the light
It's Amazing
When the moment arrives that you know you'll be alright
It's Amazing
And I'm sayin' a prayer for the desperate hearts tonight

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation
And how high can you fly with broken wings?
Life's a journey not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings

You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't liten to all that righteous talk
I was out on the street,
Just a tryin' to survive
Scratching to stay alive

I can be philosophical but I wouldn't really consider it an obsession. There is only so much you can write about nothing. I can't remember how exactly it goes or who said it something like arguing over word/definitions is not meaningful. I think a lot of philosophy can be about arguing over something that is basically a non entity or construct of thier own making, mostly what they've previously written.:P

Life is the ability to think. To not be able to think would be like death.

Thinking is overrated. The less I think, the more my mental eye "zooms out", the better I can see how things are related to each other, the more I understand. Conversely, when I get confused, it's usually because I've been thinking too much.
