I procrastinate on things. It always has to do with not feeling in the right mood for the task.
But I'm very organized so I know exactly what I can procrastinate on, and for how long. It doesn't really lead to any problems.
I know of some little tricks to combat procrastination:
1. Getting started is often the hardest part. So I tell myself I'm going to do a task for just 15 minutes or so. I set an alarm, and get to it. By the time the alarm rings, I don't feel like stopping.
2. If possible, chop big tasks up into smaller ones. The smaller subtasks seem less daunting and can be finished faster than the whole, which helps motivate me.
3. If someone else sets the deadline for a (sub)task, I find it easier to stick to it. It's much easier to explain a delay to myself, than to other people. So to avoid the trouble, and letting other people down, I find it's easier to just do the task I don't feel like doing, because the alternative is worse. This is also why I prefer formal classes over self-study, because I don't get to decide the schedule.
