The best place for an autie/aspie to live

My God, can you possibly be serious? I grew up in Lexington, NC in the mid 1960s. A mill town stuck in about 1910. The kids didn't know why they hated me, they just knew that they did, and tried their best to impress it upon me if they could catch me after school. Central North Carolina is the worst possible place i can think of for an Aspie to be.

Bad thing about it is the congestion and there isn't room to expand the roads and Portland is supposed to be the hardest city to get around in but I've never had a problem so far with bus. I can get downtown in less than half hour.
You just have to learn what time of day the rush hour starts and learn to take the back roads to get to places faster.

We should qualify our response -- Aspie male or female, perhaps race too.

Japan is cool for Aspie male because it is not uncommon that the mating process is initiated by females there. But I *suspect* it could be a disaster for the Aspie females.

Atlanta - opportunity, diversity, acceptance of differences. People tend to mind their own business, which is very important to me.

Do you live in Vegas too? Or are you just joking around? Because people actually do live here, you know. I happen to be one of them.

This thread was even more interesting than I imagined. Why? I LIVE IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA, TOO! YUCK!! !! I thought much of it was my yankee personality, but I do think it is a bad place for AS people. In fact I never thought I had AS till I moved here.

As to where to live, I recommend cities, particularly diverse ones with lots of variety. AS people should think of themselves as just another type of person, not more or less of a person. If you live in New York, Chicago, London, Hong Kong, etc., you are just another person with your unique strengths and weaknesses. In a small town in the south, you are a weirdo. Case closed.

Two questions:

1. What part of central NC do you live in?
2. Why do you think central NC is a bad place for an aspie?

Also, here in Central NC, we have mostly auties here, but you could fit in with them, too.

I also heard many good things about the Pacific Northwest and Portland in particular. When I looked into it personally I found that Seattle had more of the things that I personally look for in a city. Although Portland is supposedly cheaper.
