All very figuratively speaking in jest.... :D

I KNEW IT!! ! That the cats I know must have some sort of something...

Terribly shy at first...

Warm-up sometimes when they think it’s safe...

Especially when they’re hungry... Afterwards they proceed to get aloof, and rude.

As in saying to me in a non-verbal way: “Don’t bug me, I’m full now”. “Be sure to clean my cat-box out, or I’ll pee on the carpet!” And... “Sorry your sneezing and your eyes itch, but hey! when’s the last time you took a shower? Pheewww, with a loud meow saying go away until the next time I’m hungry, or it’s time to clean my Cat-box” -- "Please put a curtain on it too".

Where’s my dog!! ! Chase that cat away!! !

Dog’s are NT, don’t know any better....

No. Within cat society, they follow all the right rules and are quite social. They know how to read each other's non-verbal communication quite well.

Agreed.

How come so many Aspies like cats? :D

Because cats are beautiful creatures, of course :)

I'm more of a dog person, mind you, but mine have passed away :(

I had an orange tabby that would have fallen on the spectrum if not for his species. He was raised with dogs and had no clue about social cues. I once found him trying to bathe a raccoon under my apartment building. Rarely spoke unless particulary excited about a bird or squirrel outside. Never believed anything he did was wrong... even when it got his whiskers singed, and followed strict patterns of where to nap based on time and day of the week.

First of all, no, there are only a few vague similarities, and many vast differences. Second, if they meant "are cats similar to humans with AS," that's what they should have said. Don't get me wrong; I misunderstand the point not. But when someone says something that, literally, is stupid, and figuratively, is slightly less stupid but still stupid, I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt and reply to what they should have said were they slightly smarter.

This thread is a waste of everyone's time.

EDIT: FFS, not to mention the thread title is "Do Cats REALLY have AS?" Yeah, way to convey that you don't mean it literally. Use a word that literally means LITERALLY.

Yup. That's why I voted yes. The more I understand my autism, the more I can relate to my cats, and the more they teach me about how to cope in a world overrun by dogs (aka NT's). :) They have claws

This is such a preposterous idea, I'd have to ask if you are even Aspergian for even posting such a ludicrous thing. It's a cat 8O I mean when did common since take a vacation?

I think one of my cats, Puffy, is OCD. She licks herself a lot and has some naked skin patches near her rump.

You mean common sense?

Maybe you should watch your cats and yourself more closely.

I don't see why people are so obsessed with the differences between humans and cats. I'm not suggesting we should start diagnosing cats and dogs with Aspergers and OCD etc but anyone who knows cats well will understand the similarities between a person with AS and a cat. I am more like my cat than any human I know.
Oh and I think Flo has OCD too, I'm certain she has Social Anxiety anyway :)

Perhaps a Thread like this belongs in the "Random Disscussion"on WP, or in the "Time-Out" forum on AFF. Where people take a break and get stupid sometimes.

No offense - Respectful regards....

Why is it SO difficult for anyone to understand that the title is not meant literally, even after several people have pointed that out? I realize we're Aspies, but goodness...
