It depends on the video games. I like a lot of old games such as Mario and DOS games. I like some new games, too, as long as they're worth playing. Nowadays some video games are just... boring... they're fight-fight only with no storyline and have 5 minutes of special effects for each button that you push. They're barely playable.

I think the first thing I played a game on was the PC, then I got a gameboy (you know, the huge brick shaped ones) which had a battery acid attack, then a PS1, then a PS2, now an Xbox360.

I don't play video games much myself.

Though I think a lot of Aspies may like them in that it is an activity you can do by yourself - and as we do spend more time alone, we are more likely to start playing them and get obsessed?
Though I may be completely wrong.

I play them less often than I did a few years ago, but they're still my favourite way to relax - Resident Evil 4 is my favourite game of all time. Mostly because the way the villagers all act as one large organism and try to chase and clobber the one guy who isn't like them reminds me of my daily life, and I can deal out some righteous indignation in pixel form.

Unfortunately, I can't use a shotgun, a tommy gun or a .50 calibre Magnum to get them to leave me alone in real life...

I don't like playing them. But I'me really into programming and such. That is almost unheard of in my generation. I guess I never got what the fuss is about. I understand how they work so it is not so amazing. Plus I'm really mal-coordinated, not the great at them. I like think like nature and real life instead.

I have over 267 videogames in my home. I love them. I want to get a Wii.

I had the NES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, the Original Game Boy, and the Super NES.

I don't have any of them anymore, but thanks to emulation, they will live forever.

Visual-spatial deficits don't mix well with most video games. There are a few I can play, like ones like F-Zero-X that only involve a single track where it's impossible to get lost. Although, my visual-motor coordination issues ensure that I'll never be as good at it as my brother, who doesn't have NLD. But I've improved a bunch through practice, and it's fun. Any game in which you move around a whole level though- forget it. I've tried alot, since my brother is into video games. I just can never learn the layout, so I'm always hopelessly lost. Don't know where I've been, don't know where I need to go- I'm an easy target! My brother loves playing with me by the way, because he can beat me so easily!

I love the "SIMS" though, and some other games like "Age of Mythology" and computer word games ("Bookworm Adventures" anyone?)

I assume if you grew up in the 80's or later, there's going to be a much better chance you play them, and "get" what they're about (whether you're NT or AS).

I'd also guess that a lot of AS people might like them as they're something to do by yourself, as another poster mentioned. You can interact, versus just being passive with every other media.

I was writing video games in the late '70's and early '80's.

Dunno if that has anything to do with aspie traits, though. Except to the extent they link to general geekiness.
