yes it does! I had a pair for a short time and I'm gonna get a new pair. It means no eye contact and I can walk down the sidewalk and I feel like people aren't looking at me.

Yep, I often wear mine when I'm not at work. I like the feeling I can see and not be seen. When I'm at work, due to the nature of what I do, when I put on the uniform I adopt a persona of that job, so I still am 'hidden' from everyone else. So when I cant do that out comes the eye-wear.

I always wear sun glasses , really really dark ones because I am extremly light sensitive even on non sunny days . I do feel less stressed wearing them , I hadn't really thought about why ,there could be several reasons light and eye contact being the main 2 .

I've thought about getting some cool sunglasses so that people will think that I'm cool as well. Seems to superficial a decision for me to ever carry it out. I wear eyeglasses which along with my basic behavior has firmly placed me into the nerd category. Normals tend to largely make judgements on the visual. I've had random woman tell me that I look much better without my glasses, which only made me want to wear my glasses even more. Weird, but that's me :)

You know what, I haven't actually ever been able to find a pair of sunglasses that look good on me.

So I wouldn't know...

This may be a little bit of a tangent but I remember on an episode of Reno 911 the officers were talking about how great their mustaches were because it made their facial expressions hard to read. That sounds helpful, at least for male aspies.

I feel more comfortable with people when I wear sunglasses, but I don't wear them often. Maybe I should.

When the sun is really bright it's hard on my eyes. I think my light sensitivity is higher than most people, so wearing sunglasses helps ease the stress. But I don't usually wear them indoors or at night because not able to see at all and bumping into things is even more stressful. :)

I was just on another forum where we were discussing why wearing glasses is a stereotype of being a nerd or having a high IQ. people who wear sunglasses are supposed to be "cool". 8) But my brother used to tell me it's because they're high on drugs and they're hiding their bloodshot eyes. :ncool:

In fact, one time I was watching Sesame Street, and it showed a family of Muppets all wearing sunglasses and singing a song about the importance of listening to bells, like your alarm clock or the school bell. My brother said "they're all on drugs, that's why they all have sunglasses". In fact he said the creators of Sesame Street were all on drugs. How else could they have created an eight-foot-tall talking yellow bird? He was a constant reminder how there is only a one-letter difference between "brother" and "bother".

I wear sunglasses unless it is nighttime. I wear them even if it is raining. Part of it is the light but I also like not having to look into peoples eyes and not having them be able to look into mine.

I used to wear regular glasses and have had my eyes "fixed." I regret it because even the clear glasses were a partial obstruction to eye contact.

I need sunglasses for light sensitivity, on sunny days or cloudy days, outside or inside, daytime or nighttime. I do not understand how street lights and car headlights do not blind other people.

I also like that other people can not tell that I am not making eye contact. Otherwise, they will keep questioning me why, pushing me to try, or get offended.

I am also near-sighted, so I have prescription sunglasses. But, sometimes, I will wear non-prescription sunglasses so that excessive visual stimuli is "softened". The non-prescription sunglasses are blue tinted and mirrored, as well.

I find wearing them helps with reducing anxiety when being out in public.

Somewhat altho I also have pretty sensitive eyes and live on what feels like the surface of the sun so they are kind of a needed accessory here for me. I do have less issues with eye contact with them on I guess since they can't see mine but other than seeing people out and about that doesn't really help with anything. I don't like overhead light let alone being blinded by this hellscape.

I wear them outdoors to protect my eyes from UV rays. I've spent a lot of time outdoors, at the beach and fishing.

I ride them on my bike for that reason too, and to protect my eyes from road debris that might get picked up, wind-blown sand, and to shield them from the wind. I have clear lenses for nights.

I am practically blinded by the sun so I take sunglasses with me all the time, even on rainy days. I LOVE wearing glasses and was saddened that as a child I had such good vision. Silly I know but I was the 'outcast' of the family being the only one who didn't wear them.
