There are places where I can do that, but I don't always order "the usual".

i do not like the thought of eating reptiles or amphibians like frogs or alligator or crocodile or any type of lizard.

I've only had insects as a novelty. Crickets taste nasty. I've heard scorpions are delicious, though. I'd like to try them sometime. I'd also like to try alligator, it sounds very tasty and unique.

I like to stick with the classic foods that I know. I like to try new types of junk food from time to time.

For most of my life I was very, very picky. I hated "big" things like kidney beans. The only spices were salt and pepper. I will try new things sometimes now but only a bite or so, not a whole meal.

It's bad enough that I could get horribly sick or poisoned by what I *do* eat, or that it's slowly killing me like cigarettes. So my reaction to many new and unusual foods is suspicion and disgust. :(

I enjoy cooking and trying new foods, including "weird" or "gross" ones. It was a processes though and some things really are an acquired taste.

On the other hand I hate the taste and particularly the smell of fast food :eew:

Yes, exactly. At some point I just decided being picky wasn't working out and I had more fun being adventurous. Never looked back.

There are some tastes I could never really acquire. While I love beer and wine, I can't really tolerate most liquors and I'm usually reluctant to try new ones.

Some whiskeys are fine, but I'm super-picky about it. Generally the ones I like are more expensive, so I never bother with them.

what is the flavor difference between an expensive firewater and a cheap one? never tried rotgut but JB to me still tasted like firewater, the burn was so strong I couldn't discern any other flavors other than what seemed like anise.

In my experience the more expensive ones are smoother, don't have a bad aftertaste and it's easier to taste the flavor of the drink through the alcohol. Given the option, I'd take a decent scotch. I know it's an American tradition, but like you I dislike bourbon... I just find it really off-putting.

I'm one of those who will try something new, and sometimes it means that I found another food I like. Sometimes, I might not like a new food, but I can say that I tried it, but didn't like it.

I'm one of those freaks, but that's because I am actually really good at cooking. I get bored with the flavors I like and then I want to try something else. So yes.

No, I'm such a picky eater that it's probably a safe assumption that I'll dislike most things I try.

Exactly! :) I've found all sorts of wonderful things that way, and opened myself up to new experiences.
