I don't use facebook. Mainly because I don't want everyone I know to see everything I post.

And yes, only my family is on Facebook. :?

If I wasn't online I would get stupid posts like "is he still alive" "omg he hasn't posted in x amount of time". I also couldn't stand having my friends on the same social network as my family............
I only like to socialize 1on1, never in groups.

I've still got Facebook but I don't like it or post much at all, mostly it's for folks who can't do email for some reason. I'm very picky about who I accept as a friend, and my privacy settings are at maximum. That way I've so far managed to avoid any such pressure. I've never asked to friend anybody and I have a long list of friend requests that I've never accepted. I get your point about keeping friends away from each other. I can get on with most folks, and I'm sure, in the past at least, they'd have been shocked at the "appalling" company I kept if I'd allowed them all into the same room with me. I think that says something about relative levels of bigotry and judgementalism in society. One on one, maybe two or three if I'm feeling lucky.

I use to have a personal account (still have a business one by necessity), but after suffering an inordinate amount of abuse and sheer craziness on this social platform, I decided to get rid of my "Fakebook" page.

I had originally set up a Myspace account for a music ministry I was involved in. I used the site to help advertise my music and manage my schedule. Then I got a Facebook account. Do I use it? I may log in once a week and spend less than five minutes there at a time. I just can't get into it. I'm just not that sociable of a person I guess. Or perhaps I would rather just send an email if I want to talk to someone or give them a phone call.

I have to admit FB is potentially useful for publicising things like that - music events, the occasional second-hand item for sale, political rallies, petitions, etc. I've not used it for that yet but some folks I know have, and it kind of works.

I don't really use it, i have one but i don't really have anyone to add as a friend to it, personally i dont see the point in it at all, it just seems so empty to me like people seem to want to record every moment of their lives like for some reason i know what they had for breakfast this morning and apparently they don't want to talk about that in a normal situation outside the internet. its just too....confusing i guess, too random and self absorbed

I created an account and added some friends, simply because there were occasional things I wanted to look at or video games would offer free stuff for liking them. Otherwise I generally ignore it and only log in a few times a year.

I am not and I deleted my account over a year ago. I really don't see the purpose of it. I feel if someone wants to be my friend they can be a real one not a "virtual" one.

I'm not crazy about FaceBook, but it's the only way I can stay in touch with family (that is, those that even bother to talk to me), friends, former employers, and IUP Marching Band Alumni.

For the past few months I've been pretty depressed. It sucks, it brings me down, it makes me think about bridges a lot. A few days ago, after having had my last straw with the Facebook turds, I closed my account. Now I feel A LOT better, like having dead, agonizing weight thrown off my shoulder.

I'd joined FB because the publisher of my first book required it for publicity reasons. In the end it just wasn't an arena for me. It's full of way too many negative people with negative opinions. I also turned off my phone at the same time. In essence, I went off grid except for popping in at WP from time to time. FB was constipating me; closing the account was like a shot of laxative.

I deleted my FB account because I have no reason to use it. My two posts were ''I'm bored'' and ''♥''. What else are you supposed to write?!?! I don't get it.

Yes, I agree. And is nobody going to mention that the company is um... evil? Or is that off-topic?

I have seen exactly four facebook pages. I only signed because a friend wanted me to see what was on her page. I have never posted anything to facebook.

I have an account, but I don't post unless I have a bug up my ass about an article that offended me, Or I make a smart-assed remark to another smart-assed remark from someone I know, or if I see a photo or movie (usually of a basset hound) being cute or funny.

I guess I'm the one Aspie who actually likes Facebook. My one problem is that I run into a lot of people who I disagree with on things I really care about, which is something I'm bad at coping with, but the benefits far outweigh that.

I have a Facebook, but I don't like it. The only reason I have it is so I can stay updated on my extended family and friends who have moved out-of-state. If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be on there. Even now, I only check it a couple times a week, as opposed to my mom who seems to check it multiple times every day. I deleted the app from my phone because I found all of the notifications overstimulating and now I only use my computer for it.
