The world is designed poorly for me. Doorframes tend to be at the right height to smash my head, supporting beams try to break my skull, door latches snag on my belt, and low ceilings skin the top of my head. Sure, I could look where I'm going... but I always forget to. I still bash my head on the ceiling of the kitchen... In a house I've lived in more than half my life.
I hope this *IS* an Aspie trait, because otherwise... I'm just stupid.

I sometimes bump into things and I drop stuff too but maybe not as often as you guys. I sometimes trip too. I sometimes bang my head too on accident.

I am always waking up with new bruises that I have no idea how I got them.I did have a table attack my hip yesterday,so I know where that one came from. It's usually turning a corner to sharp and hitting my shoulder.I also hold tools to tightly and end up with sore or swollen hands, but I love to work with my hands.

I think this is part of my problem with driving, which I do as little as possible. It's one thing to misjudge and end up with a bruise, another to misjudge and end up in a flaming piece of metal....no accidents yet,but I am very careful and know my limitations.

I am big (at 5' 14") and clumsy, if I walk into a shed or similar with a low door I'm guaranteed to bash my head eventually.

How can you be THAT tall? Do you just want to be able to say you're a little over 5 feet!?

I fall over things , fall down things , walk into things and knock things over.

I think I managed to fall down a set of stairs on 3 ocassions in the past few years but only really hurt my back once. A few months ago my house got a new slightly higher doorstep at the front so of course I've fallen off that a few times also.

My ninja skills at walking and balancing only come into play when I've had a few drinks ;)

I smash into things when I'm in a hurry, not because I'm unaware of my physical size and shape, but because I'm focused on something else (e.g. not being late). Likewise if something important is happening or I get distracted by a song or something, I'll walk into things. I think my brain assumes that a few knocks don't matter very much compared to whatever else is in my mind.

I do stumble on the stairs every now and again...and I did fracture my finger falling down a flight of stairs a few years back (except it was totally healed a few months later, so they said the first x-ray must have been wrong or they'd still be able to see where the fracture healed, but anyway...)

I have great spatial awareness... I just keep forgetting to include my body in the equation... ;)

I used to be worst among people, alone I won't beat things more than other people. I also think I controlled it at a good degree.

I ahve trouble telling how my body moves in space. I took ballet lessons once, and I never knew whether I was standing in line with the other dancers. I used to bump in to walls and trip a lot. Whenever someone throws something, I'm always afraid it's going to hit me because I can't tell if it's coming near me or not. When in the car, I get scared that we're going to hit other cars even though we're far away from them. I also ahve to look down at my feet when going up or down the stairs to make sure they are in the right place. I also can't walk in a straight line and bump into people walking near me.

When I was younger, I had a dalmatian. The joke was I looked like her because I was so black and blue!

In my 20's it got better, now I rarely walk into things or get bruises, so there is hope for you yet! :)

My son has a terrible time with walking into things, he is 12 now.

It makes me feel a bit better that my NT husband is always clunking his head! Being 6' 2" and with seemingly poor spatial awareness for his environment, he is always getting beaten up by inanimate objects! Right now he threw out his back trying to chase our son (almost 3) under a 4" park structure, he ducked, but not enough and took a header! Ouch!

I look at my feet on stairs all the time, or I'll trip (which I still do every few weeks or so).

The worst thing (which has nothing to do with AS) is hitting your head on a cabinet or something that you forgot was overhead.

think martial arts really helped me.... i'm mean to grapple with... told i'm quite natural at "feeling" how/where people are gonna move and thus preimptively wriggling away... you ahve to have a keen awareness of body parts and open space and visually planning which spaces to put which body parts lol

and i have always done well with the break falls in martial arts as well... people love throwing me around cause i land so well... i tend to know where the ground is... has saved my butt many times when i tried to do something like skateboarding... and took a nasty spill after lik 0.2 sec of being on the dang board.... i fell well though! like a cat!

but i suck at driving and i still get lost in my current city after drving in it for ~ 3yrs... go figure

I constantly find bruises on my legs and I don't know where I got them.
