I don't react to pets... what's wrong with me?

Your attitude might change if and when you get a pet of your own... For a long time, I didn't think I could bond with an animal (which left me distraught, as I adore them.) It all changes when the dog or cat or bird or whatever belongs to you and is purely your responsibility.

It's like having a child; many people (like my mother, as a matter of fact) dislike children in general, but love their own. And if you live alone with just a cat or dog who looks to you for food, love and affection, the deeper one-to-one bond develops.

Give it time. If you spend some time alone with an affectionate pet or companion animal, it will be worth it and you'll feel so important and loved and needed.
