Not everybody on this Site is autistic.

It wasn't addressed specifically to autistic people.

It was a general question posed to everybody.

Now...if the question was "Do U Feel Accepted, as an autistic person," that would be different.

Accepted by whom?
As far as the general public in normal everyday life goes, no.
I've found some acceptance in my areas of expertise,
depending on the conditions.

That said, a good point has been raised.
Is autism the reason for not being accepted?

I would say that even with autism, I could have been far more popular in life ...
But ...
I live my beliefs.

That might lead some to the question,
do I tend to live my beliefs more than others because that's an autistic thing?

In that case, it can become the classic question of
which came first, the chicken or the egg?

...

Nope, not at all. Anywhere, including on this site. I expect I'm going to spend my entire life shunned and despised by all.

I feel accepted by the few people in my life that mean something to me. For everyone else, I simply don't care what they think about me.

Mostly.
If I am able to explain my issues I feel like most people accept me. And if someone doesn't - I take it as misunderstanding.
Sometimes I think I am less accepting to my own issues than most people are towards me. I keep a lot inside because I don't want to be a nuisance even though people often tell me it is OK to ask for help. I try my best to fight what my dad calls "spoiled kid syndrome".

I think so. Pretty good at masking things but it does come out sometimes, even if I'm not aware of it and can tell people think I'm weird sometimes. Worrying thing is....the more I know about autism, the more it seems the mask is falling away...can't stop it.

when one gets to be my age, one learns gradually to say "screw the mask!" and let one's freak flag fly. :alien:

May I ask how old you are and when did the mask fall away and did you ever find it again?

I feel accepted in places like this, and by some people within the Health system, but otherwise.... no.

in my fifth decade, well into it, the mask just wore out, no more psychic energy left to maintain it. I do not care to find it again, I am what I am, i'm the way god made me, god made me specific to a purpose that is gradually unfolding in my comprehension.

If I lived in a community where people only tinkered with stereo systems, I would count myself fortunate.
