Can you handle the detergent isle of a grocery store?

Not really. Either my sense of smell isn't that sensitive or they wrap everything up well enough. The detergent area in shops rarely bothers me unless a carton is obviously open and whatever it contained is all over the place.
Perfume area is worse.

However I hate the detergent they use to clean floor and shelves with. I don't buy unwrapped food in that shop anymore because I made such mistake once - and the cake I bought tasted like detergent due to staying in the smell too long. And I also smell the containers of food I buy and if they small I don't take them - because it happend once that the smell went through the wrap and a chocolate tasted like the detergent too.

I don't mind it at all. I am sensitive to what detergent I use on my laundry, however.

I hate the aisles with cleaning products/soap (arranged into different groupings in different stores, includes detergent, general cleaners, shampoo/body soap/deodorant) -- they all reek, and I avoid them as much as possible. I prefer unscented soap, mostly.

Don't have a problem with detergents but I struggle with the perfume sections of department stores which always reminds me of Mr Bean

I had to get used to the sweet stink of soap, because the unscented kind did not mask my natural stench.

I can handle walking down the aisle quickly to grab what I need, but I have to hold my breath. I usually buy my detergent online though. I only use Seventh Generation, it's the only kind that doesn't make me itch.

I find it's the powdered detergents that are the most noticeable, the liquid and disc stuff tends to be more inert until it is opened.
