Jesus. It's the kid thing again. Saw a "nice looking" guy (feels like a damn meat market) and he had 3 kids! No thank you. I've got homework to do - MY homework, not the homework of 3 kids, for Christ's sake. Geez louise!

Get this - he says that "he's open to all possibilities". Whatever. Not this possibility.

Not really. I don't find there's someone missing in my life although I also like to think that I may meet someone who will change my mind about that.

I found one. Hmm. Sounds a little too good to be true. Same age, Christian, does different exercise than what I'm accustomed to (could be a problem), no kids, no smoking, and a great job (electrical engineer) - there's gotta be something wrong with him. Only lives a few miles away too. Not hard on the eyes either. I might just say something. Lord help me. Why do I get myself into these messes - I don't really have the time right now for anyone. Crap.

Idk. He sounds really outgoing - traveling to different places, skiing and biking. He might be way too athletic. He plays the piano! I love the piano. Crap.

See? I told you there was something wrong with him. He says that he's a "frequent" drinker. Who puts that?! "Frequent drinker" = alcoholic. Nope. Don't need that drama - I'm living next door to it.

OMG! He's CONSERVATIVE! I may just have to overlook that little alcohol problem.

I gotta get my homework done, but I think that I'm going to send him an email just because he's CONSERVATIVE! That would be a great topic to get a conversation going. Homework first, then I'll figure out what to write. Something short and funny. Shouldn't be too difficult. Hmm.

See, this is what I don't like and what keeps a lot of us from getting into relationships. The fact that a lot of us aren't in relationships at expected ages leads people to think there's "something wrong with us" and that we shouldn't be touched.

Dude, that was sarcasm because I'm the exact same way.

Oh.

Detecting sarcasm isn't my strong point.

You're a believer in what economists call "efficient market theory." An "efficient market" quickly and correctly matches producers, consumer, and prices; an "inefficient market" allows mismatches between what's available and what people want to persist. An old joke explains:

Student walking with professor: "Look, there's a $20 bill lying on the ground!"

Efficient-market-believing professor: "It's counterfeit, obviously."

Student: "How can you tell?"

Professor: "Because if it were genuine, someone would have already picked it up."

It's also a way of saying that it sounds like he's too good to be true. If he has all of the positives like he is saying, someone would have grabbed him up by now with as outgoing as he says he is. I've never been married probably because I'm a hermit.

That does sound like something I would say. I prefer to call it "being a realist".

I can't email him - he wants someone younger than me. That's too bad for him. I don't look or act like my age. The age thing always gets in the way too. This is why I don't do this kind of thing because all it does is make me more depressed and grumpy about my situation when there is really nothing wrong with me and my situation. It's his loss. I may still say something just to try to find a like-minded Conservative "friend".

I got suckered into signing up for Christian Mingle and found out it is run by a very worldly concern. Why do ya think all the sites say try, start, or sign up for free? I genuinely had better chances and actually met several people face-to-face through Myspace. I consider myself to be a Christian who actually tries to live out what Jesus says but I have a couple of 'kinks' that most potential partners would feel threatened by, so like everything else in my life it might as well be "if you can't beat 'em join 'em"

Yes I do, especially since I don't really have much relationship experience. It seems like anyone I like doesn't like me and the few that seem interested in me either loose interest or I'm not interested in them.

No, because I'm too different to be in a relationship. I don't mind. I'd rather have my fun than a relationship.

I do worry. Sometimes I wonder if it will be a couple of decades, or never.

I'm not too worried, mostly because being forever alone doesn't sound that bad to be considering that I'm asexual and aromantic. There is very little that a relationship would give me that a close friendship would not. I still plan on trying though.

It is difficult to be alone and it difficult to have a partner.
