I didn't really mean that I want to be put in jail, more that the structure in jail appeals to me. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear that I do not mean to live in a jail. :D

I would not recommend the military either. It has little tolerance for those that do not fit.

I can relate to the OP. It's not that you would necessarily want to live in such a place, but for us routine is good. Unfortunately though a lot of people don't understand why you have to keep doing the same thing. Our daily routine is pretty much the same, as is our choice and range of clothes (minimal, same basic colours, etc).

While I don't have Sheldon'esque things like every weeknight is a specific food night, I do like to have some form of consistency week to week. Tangentially while I've lived with family who can't stand having the same thing two nights in a row I could happily have the same meal for the whole week and not care - consistency is good.

I often wish that I could live in a controlled and regimented environment, like a jail or hospital ward. It makes me content to have a clear set of rules, and a strict schedule to follow, so I frequently wish I could live in a place like that. I am quite anxious about becoming an adult, and having to be responsible for myself; I also need to move out of home to escape from my family and their damaging treatment of me.

Does anybody else wish they could live in an environment such as this?

I like environments with strict routines too, although I don't think I would like jail because there may be quite a lot of violence and intimidation in that environment and I definitiely don't like hospital because other patients make a lot of noise and keep me awake and I have to have different routines to those I have at home.

Rather than going somewhere where there are strong routines I manage this need by having a strong routine at home, a regular shopping list, regular meals that I cook and different days to take care of different household chores. I also work teaching in a primary school where there are also a lot of strong routines.

I enjoy the smell of hospital wards but I couldn't imagine living in an environment where the same things were done at the same time every day. It'd get boring.

Sameness of routine makes me feel safe. It's why I like the thought of living in a hospital ward (not that I would, but still).

I would wish that yes, although i suspect i would dislike the fact that i couldnt take part in changing the routine if i thought something was wrong with it

Sometimes, when I'm particularly stressed I wish I could just spend some time in an environment like a hospital ward, but not live there permanently.
I live on my own with my daughter and having this separate, quiet space that I can organize in any way I want is very nice, nobody tells me where to put things, what time I need to have supper, if I need to clean this or that daily or weekly. It feels like freedom although it requires a massive amount of planning and being on top of things constantly, which is just so stressful. Still, living on your own and being able to control things feels like, hey, a little personal victory :) You can have your own routines not imposed on you by anyone else, plus - no other people interfering with them. Sounds good to me.
