Can you fill me in I have been active here since New Years? I'm confused.

I don't understand your question.
A brief summary of what happened. Maybe a plot diagram.

Haha ... It would be a complex one.

I believe that Androbot was referring the whole block of time since spring of 2016 -when the last election season started. All heat and no light because the election was so polarizing.

When I look back, the moment I think everything changed was when Trump made the comment about H. Clinton using the bathroom at one of the debates.

We had our differences over autism related topics but I enjoyed your contributions. Good luck in the real world.

Considering how many discussion forums have withered away and died, WP probably on its way out as well. Comments about lots of people leaving, this should be a wake up call, this used to be a much better place - are all indicators. WP has held out longer than most, but I wouldn't be surprised if it starts eroding rapidly and becomes a thin shell of its former self by the end of this year.

Is that a thing? Internet forums dying out? I'm so ancient I had only just now gotten used to them coming into existence in the first place.

That's a pretty good point.

This forum is for all those people who don't fit in and are misunderstood by society, so you'd think they'd be able to get along better here, though, in general.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The more misunderstood people are, the more likely they are to rant and rave. I remember ranting and raving to people at my clubhouse before WP came into existence.

I've also noticed the same thing. There used to be a lot more active members posting here each day. A lot of really good members have thrown in the towel, because they couldn't handle the negativity.

I decided to leave because I felt the negative side of Wrong Planet was starting to get to me. I also didn't like perpetually getting stuck into messy situations and talking to people who were boundariless/had weird ideas.
Well see you all. I will miss you in particular ASPartofMe, Auntblubby, Androbot and Cat.

i've found that it's good to take the occasional, prolonged break from the site...being here constantly really does something to you, regardless of the negativity or positivity. it really is a time sink, at least for me.

i do encourage you to take tome off, as much as you need if it means ridding yourself of the negativity which has attached itself to you, but i hope to see you again soon, some day. you're much more mature than i at your age...as i already said, ha. if i were younger, i'd take notes.

i noticed this place has become much more...empty, too. people just don't like message boards, which personally is a shame...i really like this format. i can't stand the alternatives.

take care and good luck, mate.

It is largely about social media these days. It will not totally dye out but probably become a niche format.

Forums where starting to take over all the activity Usenet used to have around the time you joined WP. By about 2009 most of Usenet had dried up but forums were in their heyday. But then things like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and the like came into existence and forums started drying up. Ironically one of the things that took a lot away from forums was Reddit, but Reddit is basically a throwback to Usenet. What I've written is based on stuff I've heard others saying in various forums I've been on.

I can relate to the OP... but there are a lot of positive comments here lately too, if you look in the right places!! ! And from positive people! Stay and let us talk you out of it. Ignore the ones that are just like "Okay, good riddance, bye." They are either just trying to get to you, or, due to some hurt they've suffered, have the wrong views on life!

Sometimes it is good to take a day (or even a week) of health when the going gets a bit hot and heavy. I do hope you will decide to come back.

I'm lucky to have such a bad memory in that it keeps me from holding grudges. No one has to tell me to forget about it.
