It won't matter...

People will still be what they are. Evil.

yeah, it's kind of sad to see the responses to the videos of people who do try to put it in words so that people understand, they always get this attitude of "quit making excuses for being lazy" or "so now we have a name for just having a different personality? I think I'll go make up one now!"
... never much of anything positive unless it's from other Aspies or someone who has a family member or friend with it.

NT's need to be educated about aspergers. We do not get the isolation and pain you feel unless we are told. I had no idea when I landed on WP a few months ago and I am still learning more.

A 13 year old boy on WP has written a book on what his life is like. It is very easy to read and certainly opened my eyes. There are more and more books written on the subject, even in JF. Smelena is handing out information sheets about Ubby3 where appropriate eg taikwandoo(?) Over the last few weeks he has been freed from crippling anxiety and starting to soak up learning. Why? Educating the NTs in his life. We don't know what would have happened without one of his NT teachers who recognised his condition, WP and Tony Atwood's clinic. I think he would have been demented by now.

I don't think any of us can really understand your daily struggles. But as more and more NTs learn, many will want to stand beside you and offer friendship. I'm sure you have someone you can reach out to.

All the best
Robyn

Please

I'm a health professional and I had no idea before my son was diagnosed.

I discuss it at work and most other health professionals have never heard of it.

But since I've been talking about it, some have recognised their patients may have it and asked me for advice.

I'm giving a talk next month to 80 physios - a small drop in the ocean but a start.

It needs to be part of undergraduate medical programmes.

That is good that you are doing something. I really wish I had been diagnosed earlier, but no one's ever heard of it or knows anything much about it. I would have been less depressed if I'd been diagnosed at a younger age.

There's no way in hell to get NTs to understand it. You can force feed them all the information on autism in the world, but they'll just keep on refusing to understand! After all, autism has nothing to do with cars, gangsta rap, clothes, or popularity, so why SHOULD they try to understand it? To them we are and always will be another bunch of LeWzRs who did nothing to them and therefore deserve to be destroyed, just for being THERE.

You know there are NTs, will this change your AS behaviour?

Your brain makes you think this way, their brain makes them think that way.

If AS were recognized by the general public, we would have an even more difficult time dealing with people. Many people will take advantage of any situation where they already know that they have the upper-hand. They'd know that they can fool us and rip us off / get their way for everything, etc.

I don't want anyone knowing about my AS, other than a parent or person that I put similar trust in.
