Opting out of family
Christmases and birthdays
has not been received well
or understood.

But the stress of gift receiving
is extreme for me.

I won't elaborate
on some of my bad gift giving,
but I don't do it any longer.
Safer for everyone.

I just say Thank You which is the default social thing to say & doesn't really specify whether I like it or not. I'm an Aspie who's able to lie fairly well sometimes when I've had a chance to prepare but I'm just not a good actor/pretender but I can say I like something I don't without problem if I knot I'm supposed to or if I want to for some reason. What I hated most about getting gifts was that my parents would make me write Thank You cards to everyone I didn't get a chance to tell thanx too. Like if they gave the presents before Christmas day or gave em to my parents instead of me & then left. In the cards I had to explain how much I liked it & how it'll help me if it was something practical. I also had to say other small social chit-chat things.
