I think that I would enjoy the idea of us all meeting each other in person, just so we can see what each person is really like. It might owrk out and it might might not. It depends on the attitude of each person. I'd hate to be with a WP member who thinks that they're better than I am, just because they're more "NT", or they claim to be cured.

Me too. For the past two years, I've hung out at the Bristol comic convention with a guy who is so like me in terms of being extremely socially inhibited (much moreso than me, though, it seems), obsessive about certain small things, and depressive about his situation that he's extremely likely to be an Aspie (an Aspie friend of mine from another board - who's also seen his posts on the message board we both go to - thinks he could be Aspie as well). I'd recommend he get a diagnosis if I thought he'd do anything about it, actually.

As for meeting anybody here... I hope I wouldn't be a disappointment, as I like to think I behave exactly the way I do online when I'm offline, only a bit quieter and less filled with vitriol.

Addendum
I hate no one
there was a referendum
the number of voters were two
one was a personality
two was an impersonality
impersonality won
personality killed itself for fun

Well, honestly, I'm sure there'd be someone I just didn't like. LOL. I don't really hate people - that's petty and a waste of energy. Overall, I'm very tolerant about differences, appearances and personalities. I think that's typical of Aspies. I just don't take it personally like NTs do. I don't assume that someone with odd appearance, annoying traits or weird habits does so to annoy me personally. I find this to be rather advantageous in social situations. NTs just waste too much time being self-absorbed and passing judgement on other people.

It's something else that turns me off to a person - how they think. I just don't suffer fools gladly, and it doesn't matter if they're NT or ASD. I don't care. There's no excuse for willful idiocy, so I just don't see why I have to exhaust my patience putting up with it. Life is too short. I generally avoid people I find to be insufferably moronic, although you can't always do that, espeically at parties.

I know, you said you don't hate people but why would you say there is someone here that you do not like?

I seem to piss everybody off eventually. I don't think I'd hate anyone though.

We all want to get to know each other, yet we're all interesting in the strangest way!

I was thinking about this the other day. I think being weird all my life has made me very tolerant of others (more so than most, anyway), but at the same time I doubt I'd hang out with most people on this board. It's a great support network but I don't like 97% of the people I meet and I don't see why other aspies would be the exception, especially considering they'd be that much more difficult to adjust to and there'd be two sets of accomodations to make. I'd probably think most Aspies are either weird or annoying, even if I'm the same way.

I thought we'd enjoy it because we all have such great ideas!

Hi phenomenon,
You are probably right, but even in the case we dislike each other we would learn a lot from this contact, what would be great! 8O
