I have seriously thought about buying a dozen good t-shirts and a do-it-yourself screen printing kit to print "ASPIE" on all the shirts so people get the hint.

I envisage something like a face with the eyes closed, and an eye on the forehead or over/above the head. Symbolises the mind's eye, insight, seeing things differently, seeing our own reality.

My current aspie/autistic pride symbol is more direct. I reserve the right to talk to the air, flap my hands or whatever - even in public, and then say to anyone who objects "screw you, neddie!"

There's actually a symbol for autism that a lot of people use already. It's not a symbol per se, but it's a ribbon, like vetrans or cancer surivivor ribbons. Anyways, here's the picture:

I wear my own label
tacked it to my foot with a staple
one of those sharply serrated splinters
each step tells me who I am
whom I am not
a social ret*d
that’s beyond servitude

My idea for the autism logo would be a green square with a yellow circle and underneath a yellow triangle pointing upward.

The green square symbolizes the world; the yellow circle symbolizes the sun, which is a symbol for rational thinking; the yellow triangle is a person looking for the sun. In addition, the circle and the triangle together looks like a doorlock, which symbolizes a secluded world, related also to barriers in comunication.

Hey everyone, I'm new here *waves*
I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I found this picture of an autistic pride symbol, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it's a symbol for autistic pride in general, or just for the pride day? Is there any other symbol for autism or asperger's? I hope that's not a dumb question.

Hi, and welcome to WP!
I'm not too sure about the symbol idea; maybe it would encourage discrimination. On the other hand it could be something cool we could have on t-shirts or whatever, or maybe a ring like Freemasons wear!

My biggest problem with this is the association with being a "survivor".If I am a survivor of anything,it is not my AS but a culture which discriminates against "otherness"......creating a sense of hate for the "other" is how we create soldiers who are willing to kill other humans(as long as they see them as "other"),as well as a scientific and medical establishment who are willing(though currently unable)to destroy us.

I like the infinity symbol in general but dont understand how they relate it to autism.I dont think it is easy to come up with a symbol that can represent such a diverse population.

I haven't seen that symbol before. I've only seen a piece of a puzzle, which is quite ridicoulous because it could as well be used as an NT symbol in an autistic point of view.

Here's what I made, as a symbol (it's not really pretty but I made it fast and with a mouse):

Image

I sort of based it off colour psychology. The colour yellow represents sociability (in here, good social understanding) and therefore, NTs. The colour red can represent being intense (in here, intense interests) and therefore, Aspies. The coloured dots represent personalities, for example blue being calm, etc. and it shows that while there are obvious differences between being NT or AS, differing personalities can be found between the two groups.

I don't think it's a good idea to bear wristbands and the like for two reasons. Firstly, it encourages a culture of being looked upon as suffering from some disease. Secondly, it could act as an identifying mark for less tolerant people to abuse us.

I traced that in AutoCAD and printed it as a vinyl sticker. I stuck it on my binder.

I'll wait for comments on my logo, if that ever happens...

I thought it was based on daltonism tests :P

(like this. We all just read it like an A, right? )

Too much steps in it to be an iconic image. Simple is better. Overall though I don't think it's good to present autism as being mentally warped.

What about the image of a unicorn? Fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful, and through its intemperance and not knowing how to control itself it can be captured by a virgin maiden, exactly like autistic people.

Now comment my logo

I didn't see the stair-case thing as being warped. I liked it because it says that we take different paths and whatnot, plus it has a handy space in the middle to put some text in. :)

LMAO if you want to I can make the colours more subtle and alike so it can be used as one. Your design is cool, although it could use more colour.

KBABZ: Your design could use an extra stair on the bottom left... the bottom right, where the two staircases meet looks somewhat weird, too... but it is a very original design. :D
