You'll find friends who don't mind your intelligent interests.

It's like that in middle school. Kids go from one friend to another very quickly. It might not even be you which caused this.

It took me a while to "edit my thoughts," too.

I didn't even talk about my interests that much lol. I just talked too much :D . It's good I might not be the problem in regards to friends changing, though.

At least you have some steady acquaintances.

Maybe, I had too much of an "independent" spirit in 8th grade---but I had no acquaintances at all. Even when I went to a different school and got a reputation as a pretty good punchball player, I still didn't make friends.

The incentive just wasn't there.

Punchball is like baseball, but the ball is a pink, soft ball, and you punch it instead of hit it with a bat.

I have a few different tics. One of the more noticeable ones is that I sometimes will meow like a cat. I also will make a nose that sounds like I am saying "meep". I can't control them, but I wish I could.

That's quite an interesting sport :D .

We also used to play "stoop ball," where you throw a soft, pink ball against a stairway (stoop). If the ball goes across the street, it was a home run. If it took two bounces on the sidewalk, it was a double. One, a single; Three, a triple.

Wow. That's also quite a peculiar (but still interesting!) game :D .

In the old days, New York City kids frequently did not have much space to play a full game of baseball; they had to improvise something.

I like the games you came up with, though :D .

Years ago, I had a tic where I'd blurt out  "MWA-HA-HA-HA!" Some people thought it was brilliant. It wasn't until someone asked me to stop that I realised I couldn't control it.

I also find that tics sometimes have an OCD aspect to it. Like when I jerk my head to one side and have to do the same on the other side. Or it has to be done "just right", or a certain amount of times.

Do you happen to play much sports?

I used to play sports---none of them too well LOL.

I like the "non-social" aspect of them. You followed rules, you interacted based on the rules. But you did not have to relate to your fellow players; you just played, and tried to win.

I was also very much into sports statistics when I was a kid.

That's interesting. I have OCD, but I haven't experienced the "just right" feeling in regards to tics. I think some professionals consider intrusive thoughts "mental tics". I think there is definitely a relationship between OCD and tics, though.

I flap my hands but I have complete control over it. I only do it when I am at home or in private. It's like I am a NT person in public and Aspie at home it is strange for me.

I used to play tennis and basketball when I was really little- but I absolutely sucked :D . I could never do jumping jacks or things like that, and I was delayed in catching a ball. My motor skills are not very good. I hate gym class today lol.

Don't worry about it- I get what you mean in regards to stimming only at home rather than in public. I tend to do repetitive movements when I feel like I need to do them (regardless of where I am), but many autistic people here only do them in private as well.
