It's hard for me to believe that folks commonly ask you a question THAT dumb!

But if they do ask you that I think that the proper response would be a dumb answer like "flying", "turning invisible", "ability to breath underwater", "to shapeshift", or "to do the Vulcan death grip". or "to do the Time Warp Dance".

I wasn't going to comment as I don't have a Dx but I can definitely jump to to left , step to right , put my hands on my hips and thrust my pelvis till I'm insane

I do not really think it is a "superpower", but I can mentally visualize multiple objects in multiple dimensions at the same time (and look at the interactions between the dimensions). It is only really useful to me in understanding the universe, both big and small. Most NTs do not know how to respond to that one at all.

Power driven from hate (by experience) and love (acceptance and wisdom), of apathy and joy (defences) with anger (emotional/sensory input, frustrations, confusions), derived from order (focus, control, and systemizing) and chaos (autistic reality experiences via perception and cognition).

Seriously. I had answered this question at least twice, and have this as an answer.

Next time someone asks you this, tell them: "I have a finely-calibrated BS detector"----THAT will shut 'em up!! LOL

Well...if you're talking to someone dumb/ignorant enough to ask what your autistic "superpower" is, and you wanna be a wiseass, then you would say "a finely calibrated idiocy detector", or "finely tuned ignorance detector", because those things are what the person is displaying, and not necessarily dishonesty ( ie "BS").

I don't have a superpower. I would say that I do have a good memory for facts and a compassion for animals, particularly cats.

I suspect my superpower is the ability to piss people off without even trying.

"finely tuned ignorance detector" definitely sounds more wise ass to me  *committed to memory for future reference*

It's a forewarning, to not lie.

My superpowers seem to be messing things up, misinterpreting what people say, and being in the way (seriously, it's uncanny how often I try to move out of the way only to end up being exactly where someone wants to be).

I've never been asked that question, but I have seen things like "I have autism. What's your superpower?" on a T-shirt or something. If that's my superpower, I want a refund. I seem to have all the downsides without really any good sides (well, I used to have the stereotypical Aspie memory when I was a kid, but I seem to have permanently lost that due to depression). I don't even have any obsessive interests that could be of any use, even without a related skill. I honestly have no idea how I'd answer that question - I'd probably end up just stammering a bit until the person gave up on trying to get an intelligible response from me and left.

I think of that joke, "It's like herding cats." I have been able to do that quite effectively when it was time for my cats and me to go upstairs at night. Sadly, I have no indoor cats left now.
