My main long term problem, re social interaction , difficulty grasping the 'rules' of social engagement/initiating conversations/making small talk .

The paranoia they have latched onto re 'personality traits' being a product of childhood/teenage bullying and peer rejection due to physical and social awkardness.

Is that a professional opinion ? If so , what did they base it on , your testament or others ?

Sounds like you have been in the system a long time and they have made up their minds and are not willing to explore other avenues. Have you moved yet ? When you do you can a whole new set of medical professionals who may not be stuck in their ways and send you for an ASD assessment if you request it - I highly recommend taking someone who can advocate for you when asking for one.

Your Dx of PPD could be correct but it doesn't rule out ASD as you could of developed PDD as a result.

Just found this

Last week I attended a Workshop lead by Dr Judy Eaton, Clinical Psychologist with lots of training and experience in both ASD/PDA and Mental Health conditions.
Dr Eaton has her own Consultancy now in Norwich and the workshop was 'Understanding Autism, PDA and Mental Health'

Your type of dilemma came up several times over the course of the day ie Can someone originally diagnosed with an ASD go on to develop a personality disorder?

Below is Dr Eaton's explanation -

If a child shows many ASD traits in the early years, significantly enough to be diagnosed but always seemed Atypical (as you would find with PDA), then they almost definitely have PDA.
Later in life a professional (who is not trained or experienced in PDA) may feel that the individual has a personality disorder BUT they probably do not realise that what they are seeing is an individual with PDA.
This is because they are not trained to recognise PDA and therefore jump to the wrong conclusions.

Riley2017 - You have an original diagnosis of Asperger's which didn't quite fit, probably because you may have PDA. You have a Developmental History of ASD traits which means you have an ASD (probably of the PDA Profile).
Individuals with a personality disorder do not have a developmental history of ASD traits and personality disorders do not usually surface in an individual until late in the teenager years (you already had ASD traits in childhood).

Dr Judy Eaton did state that it is more likely for a person, in their adult years, with PDA to be misdiagnosed with a personality disorder if they had not already been diagnosed with an ASD in childhood
There was just a little clause....... it was not impossible for an individual with PDA to develop a Personality Disorder in their adult years BUT it was rare for this to happen.

I would suggest contacting Dr Judy Eaton for a telephone consultation for further clarity on this.
