I have only once in my life bit another person; I was scolded and never did it again.

I do sometimes bite myself when very stressed/in meltdown and occasionally use a "chewy" (a chewing toy (like a very durable, non-childish looking teether) specifically made for autistic (/disabled) people).

Perhaps keep a short wooden dowel rod on hand, if you feel the urge to bite, bite the dowel rod. Sure, it'll look crazy, but not as crazy as biting another person.

I've developed what's likely a permanent sore on either side of my finger that looks more like a burn mark. Occasionally, I'll be asked what happened to my finger and I'll just respond by telling them it's personal.

I do that too. I have calluses on the insides of both my index fingers from where I bite them out of excitement, frustration, anger, pretty much any really strong emotion. I bite them really hard because the calluses have greatly lessened their sensitivity to pain.

Cute aggression. It is a real, but really bizarre thing.

My wife when she was young would bite her dolls faces and then hurl them across the room.

My son and I both squeeze cute things with our hands.

Biting babies, and pinching their cheeks... classic examples...

It has something to do with the way "cute" is processed by the brain, when it reaches a certain point in some people, it crosses over into violence. I don't think they know why exactly.

I too do the same thing at times when I'm playful with my lovers and anyone I have a strong affection for. I have a reason for why I do it specifically but I rather not disclose it.

I've never ended up biting anybody else (at least not since I was little), but I bite at myself all the time during meltdowns. I've left bruises and teeth marks on myself.

Only when a meltdown or anger was really bad, would I bite my hand as a last resort. Last time, I used a sensory chew item instead.

Oh, I thought this was just me. I bite my arms when extremely angry... not sure what counts as a meltdown? Sometimes it's only something very trivial that made me angry (like somebody making annoying noises). It often leaves bruises. As a kid, I used to bite my sister when we fought but I wouldn't do it now.

im sorry your meltdowns are so bad. In my teen years they were like that, the cops were involved a few times.

Yes i do bite and hit and flail and scream. It can be quite damaging. Just last night i had a minor meltdown, it lasted an hour and a half and the only thing that was able to calm me was bitting myself. this morning i checked to see how bad the marks were and they werent so bad. A little red.

Not sure I've ever bit anyone, but I bite the sides of my mouth, and I brux a lot.

I have definitely hit/screamed/punched/thrown/smashed/etc during meltdowns. I try everything in my power to avoid meltdowns as much as possible. Especially at work, it would be best for everyone.

I've never bitten anyone else, but I do regularly bite the inside of my cheeks. I have some scar tissue inside my mouth from doing it, I've had multiple dentists and dental hygienists comment on it.

As far as meltdowns go, I'm not sure whether I have them or not. I will sometimes get in this weird state where I'm so angry or upset that I start to laugh really hard. I also have had a lot of emotional extremes in the past, of many kinds, though for the past month or so I've felt pretty emotionally numb to many things, while the feelings I am having for the most part have just been negative/panicky/anxious, and everything feels boring or too difficult to enjoy. Not sure if aspergers has a role in all of that or not.

Me too. I also bite inside of cheeks. I used to bit my arms sometimes. Never bit anyone else as far as I remember.
