I must be in that 25% that does. My original dx of AS was done by my therapist, who is licensed to dx ASD disorders in my state here in the USA. When I applied for vocational rehab job assistance, they wanted the Dr prefex infront of name of whoever did the dx. So I went and saw two different Dr's at the same time in the same room. Both gave me a ASD level 2 dx Closer to a 1.5 they said but since that doesn't exhist, they put me at level 2. Problem with many adults is we learn to mask the traits and it becomes so ingrained that its hard to know what our real selves is later in life. I also think the DSM is written more to benefit the insurance companies and not the clients. The less that get a dx, the less the insurance companies have to pay out. Its all about finding an unbiased clinician to do the testing with no preoccupations against the disorder. I got lucky in this as all of them that I was tested by work with adults on the spectrum.
