Am I the only one thinking of "The Prisoner"?

So, Portmeirion perhaps? :-)

You would be an outsider living together with other outsiders.

The horse idea is bad, have you guys ever lived near a place where horses go past regularly? Horsecrap everywhere.

One-story houses only, with large, walled yards. I cannot for the life of me find outdoor privacy in this world.

I can see an organization like Autism Speaks opening a giant camp for autistic kids. They'd probably model their village after something like the Loyal Order of the Moose's Mooseheart Child City & School, a 1,023-acre community for special needs children and teens just west of Chicago. Of course, with Autism Speaks, their end goal would be to cure kids of their autism. Some high functioning autistic kids would rebel and the result could be disastrous. I'm talking Adam Lanza or Nikolas Cruz-level disastrous.

Truth in advertising trigger warning:

It would all be like a very specific place in Europe: Siberia!

Advertising makes you believe their wonderful nursing homes or "special places" for the handicapped are going to be great places and use flowery names for their homes, but they are all dark institutions inside.
