Definitely not a closet Aspie. I never could keep a closet in order.

When I was younger, I was a closet AS. I don't think I told anybody because I was afraid of how people would react. But now that I've gotten older, I've become more open about it. If I'm close to somebody or if they have a reason to know, I will tell them.

I'm whole-heartedly in the aspie closet. I've locked the door and don't plan on coming out any time in the foreseeable future.

I don't have a proper diagnosis, and would probably actively avoid getting one unless there was some situation where it was needed. By this point, many people have accepted me for who I am and I've learned to deal fairly well with the ones who haven't. :-)

I tried to tell two friends about it. They laughed and didn't think I was being serious. Since they didn't seem to care, I never mentioned it again.

My parents don't know. To this day, I'm not sure if they suspect there is something different about me. On a few occasions, when they got angry at some of my peculiarities, they said I should go to a psychologist. It happened only a few times during my reclusive teenager years. Nowadays, they seem to genuinely believe I'm simply shy. Since I don't want them to feel guilty for not seeking help from a professional, I don't think I'll ever bring myself to tell them - or to get an official diagnosis, for that matter.

Other than doctors, family, and close friends...no one really needs to know. I guess if someone asked me directly I'd tell them, but I don't just walk up to people and say, "Hey, I'm an aspie!"

I rather say to people "I have asperger's and I'm working on my social skills. So if I come off weird, that's why." but, I don't say that to people. On the internet people that I see as prospective friends I tell.

Closed. I don't want to give my family added reason to be concerned about me, they worry enough. I am not embarrassed by it at all, I just don't want it to be a factor in the way people treat me (specifically, I don't want them to teat me kinder or special, I couldn't care less if they were meaner to me because of it).

I disclose only if I think it is necessary in that situation and will benefit my relationship with the people I am disclosing to in the long run. That's why I don't disclose to my professors. They simply don't need to know. If a stranger overhears me talking about it, though, I don't care. If I have trouble socially in a setting and people cannot understand why I behave in certain ways and it's causing me pain, then I'll disclose but in a way that provides an explanation first. I won't just go, "I have Asperger's Syndrome".

So you can say that yes, I'm open, but still weigh my self-disclosure rationally. It has just happened to be the case that I've had to disclose with most people I know. And I don't regret it one bit.

Meh, I don't shout about it, but it's no big secret either.

Closet aspie, mainly. The people who know about the bipolar don't know about the aspie, the people who know about the aspie don't know about the bipolar. Most people don't know about either... apart from my immediate family who know about both and think I'm making a fuss about nothing. (Apart from my brother, who says it explains everything, and is very sympathetic, in a pragmatic, neurotypical way.)

I've never personally told anyone. Family knows obviously and close friends picked up through family.

I'm very open about it. Although on a few forums I'm on they're nasty to me cause I have it.

I teach college classes so I feel the need to be open and honest with my students since somethings I do will not make sense to them. However, in general, I am OPEN.

We're here, we're aspie, .... We should really work on a march song or something.

I'm open with the people that I trust. I wouldn't reveal my AS to every single person that I meet.
