Istomin fan

Sometimes you do not know if an  adventure  is "positive", "dangerous" or "stupid" until after you have done it

One activity could be "positive" in some circumstances and negative in others

For example, a counselor told me "counseling can help". But you have to specify which counselor at which time and which client. Counselors are humans with their own flaws, mental illnesses, and criminal backgrounds

The definition of "dangerous" is vague

Skateboarding appears dangerous to me, but many skateboarders are very good at skateboarding

Thus the reason :skull: problem :skull: is  splitting fine hairs 8)

So, what kind of adventures have you taken?

Exactly! What is a reasonable risk? I've thought for decades that I'd do well to take more of them, but when it comes to working out what's reasonable and what isn't, I often get stuck. It's OK at the extremes, but most plans are in the grey area. More recently I've figured that if the decision is borderline, then statistically one choice is no better than the other, so it doesn't matter. I'd need a time machine to make a better decision. Main thing to avoid is perfectionism in the grey area, it's not needed.

I used to be adventurous. I craved a lot of big feelings and big emotions. Many of the things I did were stupid and reckless. I certainly never feared putting myself in harms way. But then I can be kind to myself now in retrospect and say they were all coping strategies of sorts. I did need that then. In many ways they were not stupid as they allowed me to survive difficult times and gave me important perspective. Now, I am fairly predictable. I know what I like by now and just stick to it I guess.

I have some routines (favorite foods, evening routine, color of clothes) but I am also really curious about anything new or unusual.

For example when tram rails are damaged and some trams go unusual routes I will intentionally get in a tram with a messed up route to see which way it will go. I am also never planning which tram I am going to use when leaving home to go to school or part time job. I will just count how much time the travel will take and go to the tram stop blind and see what tram goes next in the direction I am going. Then I will enter it and switch at some point, based on real time trams tracking app in my smartphone. Sometimes I will go as far as switch trams 3-4 times before getting to the target place, although I could do it without switching at all if I only waited 5-10 mins for the direct tram. I call it "teleporting" because it's often faster than waiting for the direct tram. And my going home is even worse - you never know where I end up. I will get in the tram with the intention of going home but in the middle of way I will change my mind, think "Lets eat something"/"Lets go shopping" and end up somewhere totally random. Because I have time.

When I first moved to the city I spent most of my days getting into random trams and going wherever they were going - to learn their routes. And sometimes I will also get into a random tram or bus and observe my surroundings till I think "oh, that place/shop looks nice" and get out to wander without caring how I return home (no big deal, I have a smartphone with gps and bus/tram locations so I won't be lost for long and I have a monthly ticket for whole city so I don't have to worry about the money).

I am also often hunting for promotions in hypermarkets in order to discover new foods. Well, not just hypermarkets. If I have enough money I will also go to places with "all food, one price" and take a little bit of pretty much everything they have - for taste testing. I also always do the taste testing in random events and I am not afraid of trying even weird food - I did try worms already, they tasted like popcorn.

If there is an event in my city I will probably go there for the sake of seeking what is going on there too. I will happily attend all trips organized by my school. And I will curiously come to see when my flatmate says "Guess what I bought!".

Before age 18, I was not "adventurous" because not allowed to

18-22, craved adventure, excitement, novelty

22 until 35 and counting, want stability, routine, obsessive compulsive disorder. Boredom is fine in some amounts. Too much stimulation, drama, theatrics feels like  adrenal fatigue

Yes, on Sunday I'm going to Scotland with bike and camping gear and heading for the wilds. I'm aiming to cover about 500 miles and camp out in quiet spots along the way.

Crave excitement, but fear loss

Too lazy

Adrenal fatigue

Apathetic

What's the point?

Meaningless

Maybe that's the allure of movies and etc

Fascinating, without too much involvement
