Just let me ask about it again... Is it a common trace? Is my thinking (as I related above) normal? If not, why?

i think associative thinking is normal?

i think "creative" people make a lot of associations. the best part is when I'm semi sleeping/ deep in the zone then my brain starts to make up stuff - sometimes i semi wake up in the morning and lie there listening to my brain making music without any effort :D

oh btw, i see that people have suggested ADHD. so it might be worth having a look into it. might explain the over associations and getting hooked to new information so much

But I've been avoiding her a bit lately, and it's not her fault - I just don't want to annoy her with my repetitions and lack of understanding of simple daily things. Poor girl.

You are aware of your stream of consciousness, which everyone has but few people notice.
Read Virgina Woolf "The Mark on the Wall".

Every thought that every person has in the course of their life is strung together by a stream of consciousness, directed by associations and interruptions. All thoughts are connected.

My brain also works a lot like that, especially when I'm trying to get to sleep or feeling left out of a conversation. A lot of the time I'm going through a routine of rehearsing conversations that I need to have, or would like to have but don't feel that I can. I also do a lot of imaginary "mansplaining" - monologuing to nobody about why my latest code is written the way that it is, or explaining something that I've learned from a special interest to some kind of imaginary listener. I think some of it is explained by not having real people in my life that I can have these "conversations" with - I don't have "imaginary friends" as such, but I think it's probably a similar kind of thing.

I do this, too. It took me a very long time to realize the real people associated with my imaginary talking partners didn't actually have the same relationship with me as what was in my head. Ugh.

4 a.m. here in Brazil and I'm so excited with a voluntary work for my brother that something he asked me - and it should take "just a couple of minutes" in my mind - led me to stay awake and alive until late. I do not know what to do as I am sure I will struggle to sleep and wake up too late.

After reading carefully what you wrote me, I will try using your hints to relax - especially today. Thanks for helping.
