Let us peruse Holy Writ for guidance....
"Cats thou shalt not suffer to live."

I was told of the book (LINK), 'All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome' after I mentioned a dream I had of a cat who was visibly uncomfortable with human contact.

I much prefer turtles and dogs.

Kraftiekortie,

My best friend was a tabby/Siamese mix (Lynx point) named Samantha.

My parents had cats (and dogs and a goat) but I'm not a fan, especially of the smelly little treats they love to leave in my garden. I'll stick with my dog!

She absolutely did, kraftiekortie. She also stayed by my side when I was sick. She was a real comfort to have around me.

Always been a cat person. A place without a cat is not a home. I'm always trying to make friends with cats.

I know three people in person who have aspergers and they all loooooove cats; hardly a scientific sample. Even so, it makes me wonder if there's something about autistic people that makes them love, with a capital "L" cats.

I am aware that there are NTs that also love cats.

I love cats. I think they are a naturally autistic species. I have a hypothesis that most crazy cat ladies are undiagnosed Aspies.

The first moment when I experienced a feeling of happiness in my life - I was four years old - came about through an encounter with a cat. I never saw this cat before nor after. But that day, that cat taught me what an inner feeling of happiness felt like. And that changed my life for always thereafter. That cat was one of the creatures that saved me, when I was far too young to know that I needed saving, or what I needed to be saved from. Other cats arrived in the following years. Strangely, I was the only person where I lived at that time that they came to. They seemed to know that the other 3 humans there were dangerous to animals.

Although I have spent a great deal of money over the decades since, on vets, food and so on for many cats since, I could never give cats as much as they have given to my life, starting with that first encounter 67 years ago. They rescued my capacity to feel joy at a critical stage of development, when things already felt quite hopeless.

They're nice I guess but I prefer more exotic animals.

I love the Maneki Neko statues! That is the one kind of cat item I need to add to my collection and I have been collecting cat-related items all my life.
