I can often be sarcastic myself, it's funny and it only annoys when used too much. It does happen sometimes that I don't know wether someone is using sarcasm or not but when that happens I mostly just ignore what they said. I had a friend (NT) who was sarcastic in every other sentence and that is a bit much for me. I like being able to talk to someone without them making a joke out of everything.

I think I'm a sarcastic person. I get sarcasm most of the time in others when they over-emphasize or use a "sarcastic tone" which in my mind is a condition of using sarcasm.

"How do you like the heat?"

"Oh, yeah, I reaaaaaalllly like being hot! I wish it was THIS hot and humid eeeeeevvvveerrryy day of the year!" (maybe followed by an eye roll).

I get that kind of sarcasm. My irritation comes in when people don't over emphasize or use a sarcastic tone but say they're being sarcastic. In the above example, without sarcastic tone, I would believe that the person liked being hot. Why would I think otherwise? Say what you mean and mean what you say!

I've lost count through the years on how many times in conversation after a: "Really?" from me, the person will say: "I was being sarcastic." I've also lost count in conversation where someone will say to me: "That was a joke."

I have a sarcastic sense of humour myself, but have recently realized I am rubbish at recognizing sarcasm when others use it. Particularly in cases eg when I say "can I...?" and they reply "no". Totally sets off my paranoia!

I love it.

I don‘t alway get it unless it‘s used with some kind of undertone, but I love to use it by myself.
