At my age, being realistic serves me best.

Now if you are talking about having a cheerful attitude. Absolutely and sucks when the people around you want to pop your bubble.

So you have not met Lady Elaine on this forum. A sweet autistic young woman who has dealt with bullying.

Btw, depression, anxiety and bullying are the trio of effects common to autism. I'm not blowing smoke up your nose luv. My livelihood is in special education featuring autistic children.

I have endured bullying my whole life. I have depression and anxiety. I have been sexually abused too. My autistic family members have all the same issues I have. All of those things are common experiences for many people on the spectrum. It's hard to have a good attitude about myself when people treat me like crap just because I'm different.

It isn't your fault, or the fault of you being autistic. It was the fault of a world of jerks. I've been bullied too, and treated terribly by the schools themselves especially middle school. I was having panic attacks, nightmares and flash backs. But it wasn't the fault of autism anymore than racism is the fault of the color of someones skin.
