Were you a redhead growing up, HistoryGal?

Charlie Brown would have dug you....

I found redheads sort of cute myself.

Nobody has brought up the hassle of interacting with the barber? The guy who did my hair recently retired. Maybe I ought to just let it grow out?

I started losing my hear in my mid 20s. I've tried lots of things to save it but I'm still losing it some. Rite now I'm on a couple meds for it & I'm using Rogaine. I would see about getting a hair transplant but I cant afford it. I'm not really concerned about my hair loss making me less attractive. I am a little but the main issue is that I like the feel of hair. I have to wear a hat when I go outside so it won't get sunburt & it itches rite where I'm losing my hair.

You could consider yourself blessed to even have hair!

I sport the horseshoe-shaped hairline that doesn't go above my ears, and it's mostly white; making me look 10 to 15 years older than I am. :(

Barber interaction should be minimal, really, if you’re letting them use their own judgement.

I love the atmosphere in barber shops, personally. That’s the way tattoo shops are too. Light, interesting conversation, jokes, no big deal if you would rather listen than talk.

I am in the lucky position that I am only slightly receding but if it gets worse I will go for a bonehead

Fifasy also looks really familiar to me i.e someone famous but I can't think who. ( mind you I tend to do this with everyone )

Hopefully not Les Dennis.

B19 and kraftiekortie, I appreciate the compliments, I just don't believe them in my head! I'm sure you mean them but it's how I see myself.

Bea I will be wary of windy weather, hopefully all will be okay, I live by the sea so fingers crossed.

Trust me: B19 knows what good-looking is.

I would trust her judgment.

My hair never goes the way I want it either, and I'm female, the gender that's expected to look kempt at all times. I've tried different hairstyles but they all needed maintainence and I find it difficult to keep up a hairstyle properly. So I now have a boring hairstyle.

I think that look is quite attractive. I really don’t like the “fake bald” of shaved heads, especially on younger men. There usually is peach fuzz showing and I think it makes them look insecure.

PS. Op, your hair looks nice!

looks to me like [if that is you in your avatar] you have enough hair to work with, you just need a hair person who knows what they are doing.

I understand that issue of not seeing yourself as others do. You see your image and project feelings onto it? To an extent I guess we all do that, it's a matter of degree.

However I can see a pleasant looking person objectively, your hair/face/smile project good vibes and a pleasant personality. You are very hard on yourself, so give yourself a break.

As a woman it is likely that I am more up with hair products than most of the men here, including you, and these days there are some marvellous fairly affordable products available over the counter for just about any hair issue.

Finding and working with a hair person may not be so easy if you have issues with social interaction.

^^^ THIS .... I absolutely hate trying to tell a hair stylist what I want. My solution used to be to always go to the same person, but now, I've given up on hair. I just wear mine long and tied back or pinned up. My husband has adopted the same policy, ever since I refused to drive quite a long ways for him to go to the same person.

It saves a lot of money, too! Since we are both retired, we don't have any corporate policy or culture to worry about.
