I tend to befriend people who share common interests.

Workplace and family account for most of my socializing these days. But in the past when I actively reached out and sought friends, I often made them among others who were different, unpopular, or off the beaten path. Sometimes this was a good thing because I got to know many unusual people; the devout Christian wild man with dreads and a machete probably tops the list. But it could also be very frustrating that I always seemed to fall in with these people without even trying. So many of the girls I developed a serious interest in turned out to have major issues-cutting, bipolar disorder, sexual abuse, you name it-that I got spooked and just stopped pursuing women by my 20s. My contact with other people is very limited now, and I like it that way.

FUNNY DEATH METAL LYRICS OF THE WEEK: 'DEMON'S WIND' BY VADER
Clammy frog descends
Demon's wind, the stars answer your desire
Join the undead, that's the place you'll never leave
You wanna die... but death cannot do us apart...

I prefer outcasts because they appreciate your friendship more. A lot of more popular people couldnt really care less about me even if they say they do. Ive had friends many would consider pariahs. "why do you hang out with him???" Or they give funny looks/ laugh. However the conversation is often more enlightening and less formulaic and i value that over being cool. I always feel at home on the fringe.

You are a blessing. I feel similar too. Those who are neglected are often the most loyal sincere people I have ever met.

There is a care home on way to shops. Lonely looking people sit smoking out front so after walking by for months, i actually started chatting to some of them, really happy I did as I feel much less cynical now. One was telling me how he loves the Queen as she pays his benefits

We do have much to be greatful here in the UK.
Yes, there are lots that need sorting. But we do have a good country with strong foundations.

And our queen who has a husband with amazing humour. I love how he says things. The press are so stupid to take offense. I laugh so much when I hear the press being offended. No one else is. We all see his humour.

you and him would get along. for me humour is proportional to how much offense is taken, the more the better!
