Deciding on Whether to Have Children
My living children were born at my ages of 30, 33 and 40. All are on the spectrum to some degree. Both fathers are in the spectrum. More serious incidence of different mental conditions in the family of my younger son.
My younger son is harmfully affected, my older children have a milder degree and positive effect.
So 2-1 I was not "irresponsible" about their possible futures. My current longtime fiance has no incidents of medical problems except alcoholism. So with him, if we decide to go for broke before my countdown clock starts, the odds of my having another severely affected child like my youngest son are pretty low. In trade for a controllable blood disease and the possibility of Aspergers, an even lesser possibility of migraines; my kids will have good teeth, sturdy health, no history of problems with heart, pancreas, kidneys, liver, cancers. cholesterol, plus a long life and menopause not coming around the women until their 60s. I think my kids get a good hand from my dealing.
BUT
I LIKE kids. Have always had patience, fascination and enjoyment with younger humans. My dad was a great model, I can hide my flaws and phobias where none are passed down and create with difficulty a plan so they are independent, confident and trusting of me. So I will always give myself a green light if I am physically capable.Though now I may worry about not being there for them long enough. Plus my now thirteen year old seems to be coming off the shaded path of the fae at last and rising in his functioning.

Though, I'm having a child. We did not plan on one.
We were foolishly passionate.
I can't blame anyone but us. And, I have to do my best to raise him and seek good help and good advice.
As, for the father.... that's a question not yet answered for me.
I'm the one who probably has HFA. Sometimes, I don't believe I do.
