Flies dislike the smells of lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, lemongrass, cloves, mint, camphor, marigolds, cinnamon, and basil. (There may be others) You can pick a scent or multiple and have them around except for where you'll be having them exit. Once you think most are out you can have the scent everywhere and it should help keep anymore from wanting to come in.

The scent does have to be noticeable, like where you walk in and go "oh peppermint!" (Or whatever you choose). So certainly choose something or a combination you like the smell of.

There are various ways you can get these into the air, the plants themselves, oil diffusers, plug in aroma things, sprays, a potpourri thing for a couple, a wax warmer for the camphor... What you choose will dictate the best way to spread the scent.

You could also get some Venus fly traps. Yes the flies are killed but it's a purposeful death, circle of life lol

I have no idea how to get rid of the brats outside of somewhat psycho ideas :D

No wonder I like flies, common enemies.

How about turning on a light outside the window at night and opening the windows after the screaming stops?

To get rid of the flies, I would use a Venus Fly Trap plant or a Pitcher plant. Insects are part of their natural diet, so why not give Mother Nature a chance of solving the issue?

For the noise issue, that one is not so easy to fix. You can purchase sound insulating material that can make your apartment quieter, but you still will not get access to fresh air. It would be nice if someone could design a free flowing sound filter that could be put into the window sill. That way you could still have quiet and the fresh air when you want it. Unfortunately, blocking one will block the other with current materials available. It would have to be made out of a new material, likely in a lab, and would take a long time to make it to market.

Ford designed what looks like a small tent for pets to provide a noise free environment. It uses active noise cancelling technology.

Would it be possible to look into moving?

Last place I lived was a small apartment, and kids wouldn't stop hanging out right outside our sliding glass door one of them was a really bratty teen. Me and my boyfriend tried asking them to stop, tried telling their parents, tried reporting the problem to management...and the problem if anything just got worse.

We seriously had no choice but to move, because the management of the apartment building refused to do anything.

I don't like the word "flies."
