Total BS.

IF we murdered all NTs..just marched them all off to death camps, and murdered the 98 percent of the human race who are NTs, and we were the only ones left, we would still have to learn to get along with each other. And we would end up evolving similar social rituals to those the liquidated NT population Similar amounts of polite dishonesty, and so forth.

Totally disagree.

As aspergers we would find a written agreement between us, to live each far from the other by at least 1 mile. Since we all know we are autistic nobody is going to break the rule, so we will live happily and free until the end of our NDs days. :D

The social rules apply evenly to us. Don't accuse others of cheating just because you're bad at a game.

That's Sheldon Cooper's way of relating to people. It's not most people's way of relating to people.

Same for me except I seem to have a more militant approach than you.

I profoundly know how toxic neurotypical social protocols are for us.
I know the damage done to our self-confidence.
I know how it interferes with our self-actualisation.
And NTs can never profoundly understand our position.
So while most NTs have no ill intentions, the toxic social and cultural system that we autistics have to endure is there none-the-less. <shrug>

Bottom line: I keep to myself wherever possible and won't let NTs corrosively affect my self-esteem and general lifestyle.
Life is good, is Don, now that I have established my right to create defensive psychological walls between "us and them".

But like I said, most NTs are unaware of how they affect us.

As a wise man once said:
"Forgive them, dude...
They know not what they do.
So stay Frosty."
BTW, that wise man is me.
With a little help from a friend.

Meh.

Social rules are tedious, and yet I cannot ignore it.
Whether it's equal or one-sided, strict and explicit or with a lot of unspoken nuisances... Tedious, all of them, yet like human living over the wants and needs -- be it self or other, can't ignore it.

I'd prefer solitary. But a free-roaming kind of solitary.

Some NT assumptions are bad. Like that lack of eye contact means you're disinterested, or are trying to disrespect them.

Many of the social rules aren't strictly "NT rules", but society rules. Don't murder, don't steal, don't cheat, etc. I wouldn't want to claim these are NT peculiarities or insist that I should be exempt from the contract. I do have some self-respect, it turns out.

It is a game not of our choosing.
It is a game forced onto us.
It is a game based on inherent corruption, dishonesty, groupthink reality sodomy for much of the time.
It is a system which exploits our non-neurotypically defined mindset.

P.S. Don't take the inclusion of the definition of "traitor" seriously.
I have added it only for dramatic/comical effect.

True, but we seem to be on/near the bottom of the social totem pole. EEK! 8O

"Wheels within wheels."
And we autistics are the spanner in the cogs of the neurotypical social system pointing out the hypocrisy and pure idiocy of life in general.
Perhaps part of the reason they have a problem with us much of the time and all too often label us as mentally ill to ratify a lie intended to soothe their fragile emotional balance.
Heaven forbid people valuing the truth and dare speak it Frankly, Earnestly and Pepely indiscriminately.

Hmmm.
I seem to be getting quite poetic here.
I hope there is some intrinsic truth to what I am saying, rather than pretentious pseudo intellectualised crap.

Vote 1: Caffeine.
It's a buzz. :hic:

Edit: I meant to say: " *non*-neurotypically" mindset.

Lol this thread seems to be applauding sociopathy and not autism :) I do take offence at lumping all the NT's in one stinky cess pool, that is a gross generalisation. Let off steam if it's cathartic, but it's not productive thinking :P

This is a bizarre response that misses the mark entirely. I wasn't talking about actual laws. (Though, truth be told, they probably could murder us and get away with it more easily, or get a lighter sentence...that would be a good example of the social rules of which I spoke in action).

You're not exempt from any social contract, nor could you exempt yourself even if you wanted to. You're bound to it as a second-class citizen among Neurotypicals.

What's with your off-target gibber-jabber? Seriously.

Hehe, I'm glad you're at least fluent in "gibber-jabber" so you could object specifically. I see laws as simply legally-enforceable rules that society has agreed to be bound to. My point was supposed to be that not all rules are strictly to the benefit of NTs. I realize there's a difference in legal vs. assumed behaviors in a social setting. Some of the latter are probably not worth following & some probably are. I'd hoped my example would mix a little gray into the black & white "us vs. them" tone that opened the thread.

Some autistics seem to believe that because our social skills are diminished by biological happenstance that social rules are inherently BS. I am not one such autistic. I may be underdeveloped at interacting with people, but I understand its importance.

Unawareness does not protect against punishment. Most social rules apply to us. But there are social rules which are also disliked by NTs. Most people like the ones who break such rules.
