Definitely not true in my case, since I earn less than that, with no gov. benefits or family support, and I cover my costs just fine.

Maybe they mean I could have been earning $60,000 more were I not on the spectrum? Debatable. Highly debatable.

They mean individual people with autism cost their families an average of $60,000 a year.

I don’t agree with that, necessarily.

My autism certainly costs me more than this, because I had to stop working after a breakdown. I'd also have to factor in the cost of medical and therapeutic services for my comorbid conditions.

I think the report was only pertaining to children, and the expenses for parents.
