What I don't understand is that people online seem to relate Level 1 Autism to be the equivalent of having Aspergers, but I was told different by this professional.

I am kinda finding this all hard to navigate, as if it was something worth worrying about then why Level 1.

Just seems like a nothing level, and I think I require help to cope better, as my functionality is hard fought for, and this diagnosis seems to demean what my personal experiences are.

Level 1 does not = Asperger’s. Asperger’s can technically be any level, though it’s really unlikely for someone with Asperger’s to be level 3. Level 1 means “requires support.”

Even Level One people frequently have an inordinate amount of strife in their lives. Nobody should “demean” the experiences of Level One folks.

Nor should anybody preclude Level One people (and all people, really) from improving their lot through various methodologies.

I thought it used to be

  1. No Intellectual disability or Speech delay
  2. No intellectual disability, but speech delay
  3. Both intellectual disability and speech delay.
Now it seems like it's
  1. Low Support
  2. Medium Support
  3. High Support

Autistic Disorder under the DSM-IV, probably.

What do you mean when you say you have “borderline” intelligence?

Probably mean they have an IQ around 71-84.
