EVERY case worker I have had always sooner or later asks...no badgers me about starting social activities. Even after I have made it very obvious I do not enjoy socializing with people. If it were a group of meerkats or something that wanted human attention, I'd SO look into that...but only if I were the only human they were interested in interacting with at a time.

An autistic friend of mine is slowly starting to not be such a friend anymore because they are like "You only talk about your special interests!" I remind them that they do as well but I don't complain. And seriously, I only became friends with you in the first place because we shared interests.

Won't break my heart if I never hear from you again. Seriously, I've lost so many friends as a kid (maybe they were not actually true friends) that whenever I do make a friend, I'm wondering when it will be over. Doesn't phase me anymore. I get more joy out of my special interests anyway and after Covid is over, I'm going back to school to peruse being a veterinarian; which in itself is a special interest. I suppose I could kill two birds with one stone and be a meerkat specialist.

So called friend I mentioned previously doesn't think I can even be a vet...but they can go jump in a lake. They are the one who gave up on their vet dream when society pressured them out of it...that's not going to be me. They also say it kinda disturbs them that I only think about meerkats and being a vet and don't want to interact with other people when it isn't necessary. They're like "God wants you to be this way!" I'm like, "Well, God is the only one who's opinion of me is the only one I actually value. Plus if God didn't want me to be a vet, why do I want to be one to the point of obsession? And if that's not what He wants of me, what exactly am I supposed to do?" And then they can't come up with an answer.

I might just count my losses and cut off all contact with this person. They never contact me that often anyway. If they were an NT, I could understand, but they are not an NT. I've also known NT's who didn't have a problem with this and LOVED to hear about meerkats or give me advice on getting into the vet field and tell me how good they thought I'd be at it. But this person is autistic. They used to have special interests, or so I thought, but they say they never loved that as much as I loved meerkats.

You've peaked my interest .. that being you're very much into meerkats and I'm wondering if the website, it's called "compare the meerkat" I'm pretty sure it's an insurance website actually but I wonder now if it offers sound advice in actually comparing meerkats, I've visited it once before like many many many years ago and I would be surprised if it is still being hosted.. but am curious none the less and figured it might be worth your looking into. Let me know :D

Edit: never mind as I couldn't help but google it and it's now a completely a rhetorical question but in the essence of not wasting time, please tell me something about meerkats I am interested in your interest in meerkats.

Dani.

I have heard of that company. It makes me happy I don't live in the UK. Let's see, I suppose I can tell you all about real meerkats. They are a mammal in the mongoose family. They live in Southern Africa in scrubland areas. They eat...well pretty much anything that won't eat them first. They aren't picky. They are called "meerkat" because it's an Afrikaans word and there is no "C" in Afrikaans. But it still irks me when I see people spelling it with a C. My tagline used to go "Spell meerkat with a C and I will stab you" but I got in trouble with the mods for that. I saw it on another forum I wasn't even a member of and was like, "Well I have more right to use it than they do".

There was a wildlife documentary themed like a reality show that documented the lives of meerkats called "Meerkat Manor". I hate that show for a variety of reasons. Mostly because it made it "cool" to like meerkats and everyone was running around claiming to be "obsessed" with them. Excuse me Miss/Mister Person claiming to be obsessed with meerkats, you never had to suffer for it like I did and even have family members tease you for it. You never questioned sucide because people bothered you so much for your "obsession". And when Meerkat Manor is done, you're no longer going to be interested in them. Which I feel would be the same with Compare The Meerkat if I lived in the UK.

Does anyone feel like people on seem interested in your special interest out of having a motive or agenda to seem interested in your interest? Like not actually because they have a genuine interest in you or what it is you're interested in??

In case your purplexed by this concept. I can assure you it's most definitely real. People are superficial and do these things I find very bizarre. I couldn't be falsified into making it seem as if I'm interested in someone or their activities of interest out of not actually being interested genuinely. I'm not sure if it's just every person I seem to bump into or if it's just how NT's are!?! Very strange indeed. 8O :?

Yep! Felt that way ever since I was a kid. My mom always told me to pretend to be interested in what the other kids at school were interested in because they would want to talk about what I wanted to if I did. I TRIED. NEVER happened! Ever! Now, whenever I meet someone who shares my interests, I feel creeped out by them. Said person I was referring too in my original posts isn't NT though. It's my ex-boyfriend. (I would NEVER date an NT. Just too complicated. It would be like dating another species.)

Whoa!! ! That's soo cool!! !

I love knowing what other people love so long as explain why they love it.
I now know something about real meerkats! Thanks for sharing!!
Yeah I have never fit in with anything or anyone and I too now don't believe anyone I come across genuinely shares my interests but I can assure you I totally think that u like meerkats is awesome! Yeah I was married n only ever dated nts except one chick I'm pretty sure wasn't an nt as she was totally cute n stunk of aspie cuteness but I lost contact with her so she probably hates me like everyone else. I seen her on a bus afterwards n caught her awkward smile . Sigh, the memories. She used to wear a ramones shirt.. I can still see her in it when I close my eyes.
I've a bad habit of once I close a door fully on people , I can't ever undo it. It's programmed in my mind that way. Recently this is what happens with my ex wife. Anyway.. before I continue off tangent, I really love freestyle rap (which is like whatever comes to mind just let It go!!) lyricism it's called and I'm pretty elite at it. But people who say they've an interest in hip hop or rap is like someone really loving Beethoven or Bach and bought their friend a run DMc album and say that they love them same same. I hate liars, unless it's a white lie or only hurts me then I hate lies. Sorry I bottle all crop up and then it just rages out of me and I don't have time to adjust my thoughts. If I offend u or anyone on here (wp) I don't mean to. But I think your want to stab someone over meerkats is weird and cute.

This is the same with me. I have some that have stuck with me all my life, and some that come and go. Sometimes I am very obsessive about something and become hyper fixated with it, but then it flutters away. I’ll come back to it if I get a strong interest again. It just depends.

Please share your current and past interests as I am totally curious. Right now my interests are hell bent on aiming my Cannon at the sources that I want to take out physically.. rather than using my awesome rap skills to annihilate 8O
