Yeah..? I'm kind of confused religiously actually. I kind of believe and then I don't. So I really don't even know what I want my username to say.

join the club, i wish i had chosen "abby normal" as my username as that is what it is elsewhere. and your kind of believe sounds like mine, i believe christ is who he said he was ["son of man"] but i also believe in buddha and several others in the pantheon of gods.

One can certainly believe Christ is divine, while also believing in the teachings of the Buddha.

I bet Christ himself wouldn't have objected to that.

I dunno, if he's who people say he is, he was pretty clear about his insecurities, you shall have no god before me.

Which I guess means he only wants atheist converts?

There is some evidence that Christ traveled to India, and was exposed to the religion there, at least.

His early followers in Rome certainly believe in an ascetic sort of existence, and believed in a sort of pacifism as a reaction to being persecuted.

One thing to keep in mind: Christ himself had no writings in the Bible. There were at least four interpretations of how Christ was "divine." And four takes on the evidence for his divinity.

I think I'll just straighten things out in my location for now actually.

much written in the KJ bible is made of whole cloth. an excellent book, "steve allen on the bible, religion and morality" details over 5000 demonstrable errors of translation or instances where there is absolutely no written back-up to much of what is in the KJ bible.

No debate from me :)

My point is that being a "Christian" shouldn't have a narrow definition.

Hi, there guys! So I haven't been on in like FOREVER! And just realized I joined this forum nearly 10 years ago when my Autism was SUPER bad. So bad that I couldn't even function, but let me tell you I'm A LOT better now. I can at least talk more, like the simple things anyway, greet people and tell people what I want better than before. I used to only be able to nod or do motions. It's still hard to make friends though, but I am at least in a relationship now. So that's good. Other than that though I'm really not that social except for when I'm online like this and with Covid that only makes things worse. I'm not good at approaching people or much of a good conversationalist either though, still. So it can get hard even nowadays for me. Anyway I guess you could still say I was shy, like in my username cause I still sort of am, but I wouldn't exactly say that I'm a Christian now as my username says and I guess you can never change your username, right? Maybe I should just delete my whole account and make another one then? But, I've had this account for so long and it would be sad to just leave it. What should I do?

I also found out about WP exactly ten years ago, 11 years ago now. I used to be more Christian before and had some desire to go to church. I almost don't believe in God anymore, although I still have some interest in religion. I am still shy, but socially smarter than I was back then.

Welcome back.

I tend to fade in and out of WP these days.

I did my religious explorations when I was younger. Examined different ideas. Settled on Deism.

In my estimation, your religion isn't as important as what you do as a person. If you use your religion to be nasty to others, then it isn't ok. If you keep your religion to yourself and do good, then you are fine by me. Don't judge others for their beliefs and things tend to be ok. It is when you start to use religion to tell others what is and isn't ok that things always go awry.

This isn't really the place for that stuff anyway. This is a place for people who have, or likely have, ASD to share and discuss, hopefully with friendly intentions. I think there is a place on WP that is about philosophy and such topics, but I don't want to jump into that pool here. I have pretty strong opinions on philosophies of different types, but this doesn't seem like the place to share those ideas without possibly causing some upsets. And that isn't cool, so, I am best leaving that corner of WP alone.

It's okay. I felt the same way several years ago during a crisis of faith in my family.
