Yes, I have always felt I gesticulate more than average. I think my NT father also did. I have pondered whether there is any difference in the amount of gesticulation by ND compared to NT, and I don't think there is.

I clicked on "sometimes".

It depends on whether I'm sitting down or standing up.

If I'm stood up I can be very animated. I do all the actions but if I'm sat down I don't think I talk with my hands at all.

Gesture is linked to charisma. But since alot of you say you are quite animated, and Autistic people are not known to be charismatic, infact its negatively correlated, i guess its a matter of quality over quantity. Congruence is also a issue. I've been consciously increasing my gesturing expressiveness output, it does make you more assertive and confident, maybe even agressive and louder. it kinda shifts energy levels.

I reckon my body language is congruent. It's not something I've practiced. It just happens naturally.

I can get really over excited when I'm expressing myself sometimes and that's when it happens. The only thing I do concentrate on is not making my hand gestures seem aggressive. Like pointing in someone's face and that kind of thing.

It's congruent if it subconscious. Its autonomic function. acting skills is required to make it conscious and congruent.

I don't care if i appear agressive. But i'm a male, i'm not supposed to care. right now i only care about how effective i can be, improving my charisma, through body language LOL. I'm not running for political office so pointing at people is no big concern.

A woman once pointed in my face so I bit her finger. She didn't do it again.

By nature (or nurture) I am quite an aggressive person anyway and it is a goal of mine to appear less aggressive.

Hypothesis = gesturing strengthens all four hemispheres of the brain's ability to synchronize, harmonize together

Time to start flailing your arms around if you wanna get smart. I notice alot of of smart people have really good gesticulation skills. So congruent, and rapid. I've been improving my gesticulation ability since i posted this thread. I feel little bit more natural at it. But I don't know if I'm any wiser from it, lol. But it may be able to help people with certain brain disorders, syndromes, physical un-coordination. It's an area to look into.

Yes, but I always figured it just meant I was secretly from NYC.

I was once compared to an Italian with how I gesticulate. Though I don't recall doing it much recently for some reason. I guess I've just come to do it less over the years. But I do do it when I'm worked up and want to emphasize a point.

No, pisan.

It means that you're secretly Italian. :D
