I have seen three different 'counsellors'. My most recent one was a specialist Autism counsellor & she was very good.

Even if your counsellor doesn't fully understand you - I recommend CBT as it does give good strategies for managing maladaptive thoughts & behaviours.

Because of my own life experience, my brain jumps to...no, it's not a success thing, it's an age thing. I'm probably biased here. I had a good therapist as an adult, and I was nothing close to successful in life at the time (I'm still not  ).

You might be right. I think "age" is a better descriptor than "success". After all, when you're a minor, your therapist's main loyalty is to YOUR PARENTS. You're basically a subhuman object to be fixed. Even if they're abusing you, as long as it's not physical, your therapist will do everything to back them up and blame YOU, while pretending to be your friend. So that's why ALL family therapists are so pathetically unhelpful to kids and teens.

Actually, and I had forgotten all about this until I read this, I had a therapist come right out and tell my mother it was her - not me. Of course, that was the last time we saw a family therapist.

They hired her for two semi-contradictory purposes: (1) Help me make friends, after I failed to do it after moving across the country, and (2) Help them get me better grades, since my parents prioritized good grades far above my mental health. Heck, they nearly drove me to suicide with the latter. At one point, they even threatened to enroll me into a high school in a rough neighborhood full of gangbangers if I didn't bring home good grades 8th grade. When I told my therapist about it, she laughed in my face! (In retrospect, it was probably because my therapist knew it was an empty threat, due to school district borders, but I was scared of it for real.)

Yes. I saw a psychiatrist in 2012, who prescribed me Klonopin, and a PCP in 2019, who prescribed me Effexor XR.

I was asking 'theprisoner' specifically, but thank you for that.

You are an American.

Okay, well, there's nothing wrong with being narcissistic, it isn't a deficit as such evolutionary speaking - but you need to be a competent narcissist. If you are not, you'll end up getting yourself into trouble.

I am not trying to 'trip you up' here, or prove you wrong for any reason. I am not like you.

I'm trying to help.

I know you but what Am I.

Go on, throw another speculation out there. SO you can be wrong for a 3rd time. Go for the 'Hat-trick.

You are 'incorrigible'. You know it is true, but you don't want to admit it to me because you think I am telling you what to do - and as a narc', you don't want anyone to tell you what to do. You call the shots.

Fine.

You are not a narcissist. There, better? :P

If somebody doesn't care to be your friend, doesn't make them a narcissist or a sociopath. 'incorrigible' means hard to change, stuck in their ways.

It can also mean "unable to be corrected".

You don't have to be my friend. I just want to increase your self-awareness.

Even if I am wrong - you will have at least thought about the issue. :)

I'll leave you with this. I have worn these shoes since I was a (biological) teenager, all different colours. White, blue & white & black. They are my favourites.
