I totally do this! I hate that people are so completely unaware of their surroundings (especially in the bustle of the big city) that they stand in the middle of walkways or just stop in stupid places.

I always had difficulty in finding a good way to walk when I'm outside. I'm very self conscious about this. People tend to poke fun at me sometimes when I walk. There are times people think that I'm either gay or just have an odd way of walking. Even though I try not to let it bother me, I'm still very self conscious and uncomfortable about it. I try not to swing my arms that much and at the same time I try not to be too stiff either.

Poor and underdeveloped coordination is probably the reason I tend to have trouble with walking properly.

Damn, that's a cool graphic. I am going to try and steal it.

I walk with my head down, or so I'm told. I have a little limp, or so I'm told. I weave and bob and stumble at times, especially if I'm thinking very hard about something. My arms seem too long for my body, they almost touch my knees, so they are always a problem and I like having pockets to put my hands in while I walk. If I don't have pockets, and become conscious of myself while walking, I sometimes clasp my hands together in front of me and feel like I'm 8 years old and walking up the aisle to holy communion.

Recently my sister said, "you always walk with your head down." I replied, "how many feathers do you find?" I collect feathers, unusual ones that is to say. It's a perk that comes along with walking with your head down.

I've always had a very funny gait. I walk on the balls of my feet (I seldom put my toes on the floor) my toes curled inward toward my foot and I drag my feet most of the time, only when i am telling myself over and over not to drag them do I not do it. SO, usually I make an odd sound as I walk. I wear slippers all the time. Sometimes sneakers if I can be persuaded to do so. So usually I have a shhhk shhk shhhk sound to my steps. my gf pointed my walk out and always used to get on me to "pick up my feet" because i trip alot. she understands now, though.

I use a walker most of the time now, because my body has become very jerky when I walk (and it is comforting to walk pushing something ahead of me) so I don't have the hand-arm moving problem, lest I tick. When I don't use the walker though I tend to tick with my hands (IE: flap my palms or shake my fist near my hair like waiting for sound or press my watch against my ear to hear it tick so sometimes I put my hands in my pocket) and I tend to look all around the room or the street, almost never ahead and if i look ahead I do so looking down. I am terrible at crossing streeets.

I walk on my heels and I tend to sway side to side. Kind of ungainly, not very efficient,
but it gets me where I need to go.

I hate swinging my arms, I always have my hands in my pockets or clasped behind my back in the classic British aristocrat pose. I think it's because I'm clumsy, and I hit people with my hands when I try to swing my arms normally (sadly, I actually measured the average swing distance and practiced it in an attempt to be more 'normal')... it's especially unfortunate because I'm 6'5", so my hands end right where most peoples bums are. ;) A few angry women were all it took to go back to the pocket method.

Also, I tend to weave when I walk, unintentionally randomly moving to the other side of the sidewalk. Inconvenient when I'm walking with someone and suddenly I'm bumping into them.

I'm an eyes-down guy, partly social, partly clumsy. And I tend to walk on the outside edge of my feet, though I think that's related to ankle injuries through my life.

I walk funny. I roll onto the balls of my feet and push off using my calf muscle with each step. So, I have well developed muscles in my lower legs, but my hip flexors (the muscles most people use to pull their trailing leg forward) are horribly underdeveloped and they get sore really quickly if I walk on slippery surfaces.

And I tend to bounce - I have a sort of long, loping stride. If I'm wearing a jacket, I don't swing my arms at all (even if I run), but without a jacket my arms swing wildly when I walk (but again, they don't move when I run).

ah yes! I have a unique walk and have had my entire life!! Looks funny when I go up & down stairs too.

Of course, getting both legs broken in the Army didn't help either......

Yep. I have a funny walk, which my brother and mum informed me of, and since then I have been very conscious of. The first time they mentioned anything was when were in a shop, and I walked over to look at something on a shelf. My mum said I was walking like a boy! It is either that, or I walk leaning to one side...like I have one leg longer than the other, or something. I hate walking anyway (I'm so lazy!), but now I feel worse...not walking around town or something...more in a room with people. Like in Drama at my secondary school, if the teachers handed our essays back and we had to put them bag in our bags. It meant that everyone could see you (we all sat in a cirle and bags, etc, were by the door), so it was a nighmare! I used to hurry back to my seat...not run...just hurry awkwardly, and consciously.
And I'm constantly walking into things! They seem to get in my way, everywhere!

Supposedly I walked funny, with a bouce, probably until somewhere around 10th grade in high school. By 11th grade, I was walking with extra confidence, often purposely walking in a strange manner during times when people might be watching me. I now walk approximately twice as fast as most people. The arm swing is now necessary for me to keep my balance. I now also have no qualms about running when outdoors, during times when most people are walking. Running usually seems more appropriate to me than walking does.

I am told that I walk funny. I feel as if I'm swaying from side to side. If I am alone, I walk very quickly, even if I'm not in a hurry. I don't know why. Maybe so nobody will talk to me. I swing my arms dramaticly sometimes. I have to do something with them. Otherwise, I put them in pockets or something.

People say that I look very serious and stare at the ground when I walk. They say, "What were you so upset about yesterday when I saw you walking down Main Street?" They don't believe me when I say nothing. Once someone said that I look as though I'm contemplating the fate of the universe when I walk, staring at the ground. I said I am!

I bump into open doorways and furniture and everything. I don't know why I am so clumsy.

I've been told I walk like a penguin. I'm still yet to work out if the person who said it was being serious or not...

I don't swing my arms while walking and my eyes are directed into ground then. I am often told that I walk too fast but then I always say that I simply want to keep up with that person and it's that person who walks too fast. I'm also hunched and it's not only while walking but also when I am sitting or doing whatever else - btw, it's unfair - after all, a twisted spinal column and a neck of a swan have the same shape but while swan's neck's beautiful shape is generally admired, nobody is enraptured with a spine of a hunchback :(
