I didn't see many animated cartoons as a child, but I have always been very fond of paper cartoons. When I first saw The Simpsons, I recognized the work of Matt Groening instantly from "Life in Hell." I think I saw a season or two if it. I can tell you how Chip Flagston and Beetle Bailey are related, but I'm still wondering why Albert the Alligator was carrying an alarm clock on his head in Pogo around '51, before I learned to read. Some of the greatest, pithiest truths are told in cartoons. I think they also helped teach me how to read body language.

There are a couple of Western cartoons I like, though I'm specifically more of an anime person. Recently started Zombieland Saga and So I'm a Spider, So What? which are both fun series ^^

I used to think that animation or comic books would be a career for me. I went down another road.

I still like old hand drawn animation and some graphic novels, like the Hazardous Tales of Nathan Hale or Maus (the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel), or The Big Picture: Brendan and Erc in Exile.

I enjoy "Slice of Life" anime, as long as it does not devolve into fanservice, ecchi, and/or hentai.

Sadly, they all seem to do exactly that, eventually.

I like the cartoons from the 30's to the 70's better than present-day cartoons. Though there are still some good ones---even these days.

I also like Pixar's early stuff and some of DreamWorks stuff. I think the "DreamWorks Dragons" stuff (especially the tv series, except for the lame recent "DreamWorks Dragons: The Nine Realms" which I watched one episode of and thought it was awful) is good - both the animation and the character development.

The Pixar Shorts that focus on story telling are fun. I have a copy of the Iron Giant, and one day I got really into reading about Brad Bird and his accidentally falling into being mentored by Disney's Nine Old Men (the wikipedia article mentions it but you have to hunt down interviews and other articles to get the whole story).
I was totally jealous for weeks. Also read about the team behind Mr. Magoo's "A Christmas Carol" and the interesting things they were doing. I like all the "behind the scenes" stuff.

The old Max Fleischer Superman cartoons are really well done too.

No, but it was Mrs. Disney who changed Mickey's name from Mortimer Mouse.

Wally Cox, who was a comical nerd type, voiced Underdog.

Rodney Rodent was a villain in Underdog.

I only liked Tom and Jerry later. I didn’t like that they didn’t talk.
