I think I like "High Functioning Autism" better than "High IQ autism". Mine is only 110.

I just cannot say Asperger's without it sounding like I'm saying Ass-burgers. I'm in the U.S.A. and that is how it is said here.

No, it's not. Unless you say "Azzzberger's" with a "z" rather than an "s", I guarantee you that you are pronouncing a "p", not a "b", even if your perceptual system is hearing a "b". It's a phonological rule in English (at least American English) that stops following another consonant have the same voicing value as the preceding consonant (voicing assimilation). That is why in the word "bugged" you produce a "d" at the end of the word, while in a word "flapped," the final sound is a "t". I agree that a lot of people seem to *hear* a "b", but that is probably because in that sort of situation, where the voiced/voiceless distinction is neutralized, your brain makes its best guess, and in that case, it would be "burger," because "purger" is not a real word (that's "purger" with a hard "g", not a soft one- if I could use IPA symbols here I would).

so something like HFA or NVLD may be better in the long run.

The problem with NVLD of course, is that when people hear "nonverbal learning disorder," they think that means that the person with it is nonverbal- more or less the opposite of what it actually means!

it is fortunate that we are not supposed to use “Ssucharewa’s syndrome” after dr Ewa Ssucharewa, a Russian scientist who published a paper on the matter already in 1926.

I try saying Asperger syndrome (there's the key, put the 'syndrome' on the end) but occasionally people don't understand or hear it correctly, then I say I am autistic but higher functioning. I too don't have a brilliant IQ... waah

Most people at my school say it like that but when I say it, I sound British.
{No offense.}

am think aspergers should be changed to HFA,but am also think there should be subtypes of it.
something like HFA-pervasive,and HFA-non pervasive.
HFA-P would be the group for those who have more severe traits-and are disabled by their HFA.
HFA-NP would be the group for those who are mildly affected by their HFA,are very high functioning, and not considered disabled or in need of support.

Am think there needs to be different subtypes as aspergers is a spectrum to.
people who are very high functioning, not considered disabled in any way,and are the least autistic like cannot speak for the most autistic like severe lowest possible functioning aspergans [eg,cannot say aspergers is not a disability or not autism like when it is for some],and they cannot speak for the highest functioning aspergans [eg,cannot say it is always a disability when it isn't for some],both have different needs.
for example, one aspergan am know is unable to speak unless he is spoken to,he is unable to say when he has even severe pain, unless someone asks him when has pain.

You have some good ideas there, KingdomOfRats. REALLY good! May I ask a question. Everything you wrote was grammatically correct, except for one thing. I noticed you say "am" in place of "I". I was wondering if that is something common to the area you live in?

Actually, I have a better name for autism and AS:

The AutoErotism Complex

Anyone wants to challenge that name?

The way I say it, it sounds like "Ass-Purges". Of course, I say 'Arse' not 'Ass' when cursing, but... it still sounds like I'm talking about toiletary problems.
