I honestly don’t think I’ve had a meltdown in my life, or perhaps I’m mistaken. I did have proper tantrums when I was younger but pretty much everyone does that as children. I also get anxiety attacks during extreme situations of stress. Is it possible that some of those are actually meltdowns, but I don’t know? As I was just diagnosed three years ago, I’m not sure.

1. Usually when too much is going on in the background stressing me out, combined with something in the foreground upsetting me. Looking back at the past after I put myself into behavioral therapy as an adult, change in my life (moving homes, starting high school, cancelled plane flight, etc.) seems to have been the biggest background trigger.

2. Anywhere from crying + anxiety attack followed by inability to properly speak for hours in the most minor cases (usually what happens when it's sensory related), to screaming, beating myself with my fists, and pulling hair out, sometimes id break objects too, in the most major cases. I got a bruised eye one time from punching myself in the face and head uncontrollably. I cannot speak while having a meltdown, I can only attempt to stutter singular words in the mild cases and can only scream in the severe cases.

3. No I cant control them. When I meltdown it's long past point of no return.
