Why do some people on the spectrum look funny? I wonder what causes some of them to have different facial features characteristics.

I have found that the vast majority of people with autism who don't have an accompanying genetic disorder----look, at least, superficially "normal."

I used to believe that I looked "weird." This was conditioned into me by my upbringing. It was not until I actually looked in the mirror that I realized I look pretty "normal."

yes autism is not like downs syndrome where they have distinct facial features
i wouldnt know you had autism just by looking at your avatar but if you had downs syndrome then i probably would notice

I firmly believe in the existence of the uncanny valley effect as to many autistic people. Maybe we don't look funny to people, but rather we look off.

In all honesty, one can't usually tell too much about such things as autism based on a photograph.

There are photos of me at age 2 1/2, when I was in my "severely" autistic phase. I looked like a perfectly "normal" 2 1/2 year old.

There was a guy on YouTube who was severely autistic, nonverbal, and self-destructive. You wouldn't know it based on his photographs.

yes
i was a non verbal when i was a small child but in most photos of me i was smiling , even waving to the camera but i was quite sociable despite being non verbal and in my own world

i wasnt a typical autistic which is why i didnt get a diagnosis until i was 10

I find mass majority of people with autism looklike everyone else, it's that a few of them have different facial features like that guy in the article. I'm just wondering why is that.
