I don't think that someone with AS would be able to do this easier than an NT. It's all about unfocusing your eyes- why wouldn't an NT be able to do that?

First off you mean a hypothesis not a theory. A theory comes after you do tests or testing of a hypothesis. So you want to test if AS humans see the patterns that can be tested. I see random colors not images.

and Saturn. . .or a Saturn like planet with rings

the trick is to put your face up almost with your nose touching and then pull your face back until you are about 12 to 18 inches back. . .try looking at 8 inches then stop your head incrementally. . .

Thank you sooo much.I have never been able to do these and there for, decided they were "stuipid and painful nonsense",lol.
But I did, just as you said(after removing my glasses,I am very near sighted)....and the images popped out.It looked pretty cool.

I've never had much luck with these. I tried taking my glasses off. I am far sighted and can see OK without them, but out of focus. I tried focusing in front, behind, looking closely, and not. Of course, I also tried that trancelike state you spoke of, that sometimes DOES affect prerception in this way.

I even tried crossing my eyes. I don't think it has anything to do with autism either though.

The first one is a whale coming out of the water (nose first with fins)
The second is Saturn.

In my experience, NTs have a much easier time with these. This art store in my hometown put up a bunch of framed Magic Eye prints and we'd just stand there and stare at them. I was by far the last person to see the images after a lot of frustration, eye-crossing and bobing my head back and forth. Weeks of this!
Now it's not so tough, I can do it under a minute. My husband can do it with a lot of effort.

I can do it but it takes a while sometimes. What I do is put my face close to the image and then relax my eyes so it goes out of focus. Then I keep my eyes relaxed, not trying to focus on anything, and slowly pull my head away. Usually I catch an edge of sorts where one area looks closer than the other. When I focus on the edge the entire image pops out.

For those having trouble...try doing exactly as Merle suggested.Put your nose on the screen.move back very slowly until the picture pops out...it's pretty amazing.I didnt realize that the image was actually 3D......

A whale...I saw a plant. Is it possible for people to see two different images in these things?

Thanks for the LInk Sinsboldly....I love the floating fish... :D

Absolutely insane..........I still can not see any object but the whole image in multiply 3-d layers popped off the screen perhaps 6-8 inches off the screen in mid air.

Okay tried it on the second image. I saw the planet with one ring for a second then the image inverted and i saw the empty space where the the planet&ring was. So i guess I'm seeing and inverted image on the first one and can not process what it is.

Do that finger experiment. It will provide the feedback you need to focus your eyes right.

I can do the trick on the website... but how do you do that when something is right in front of your face. I can't trick my eyes to focus in the distance.

Exactly, and I have amblyopia, so I can't see these things and probably never will be able to!
