I thought this said "Are you good at nap time?"

I felt so happy and cosy.

Maps -
I'm not good at using maps or pictures for driving directions.
I'd rather read written directions in sentence form.
I rarely get lost though.
I have a very good sense of direction and I don't use GPS.
I used to be obsessed with my brother's atlas for world geography.

Time -
I was afraid of it as a child.
I think of time spatially and prefer analogue clocks.
I'm never late for anything, although it's a struggle with ADHD.

Maps, yes. From orientation to not getting lost in general.

Time, no. I'm not any good at it beyond just looking at clocks, knowing times of the day and some maths. I suck at gouging how much time is needed to do what and time management in general unless the schedule itself is fixed like some form of routine...

Nap time! Yes, we all need that!

It has always surprised me that I usually know what time it is. When someone asks me, I can usually say what the time is within an hour or so. Usually within half an hour. I've never really needed to wear a watch.

It's interesting to read all the different responses and abilities on this thread, thank you! 8)

Having declared myself to be useless at the intuitive time thing, I just tried to guess the time and got it right to within 2 minutes. I'd last looked at a clock an hour ago.

Either it was a fluke, or I've underestimated myself. Or a bit of both. I'll experiment further. Maybe I'm omnipotent but just have low confidence.

Try guessing what time it is when you wake up, that's a good way to test yourself.

That would seem a very stringent test, but just for fun, I'll try it. Luckily I don't use an alarm clock these days or that would spoil the test of course. I've read that some people can do it, but I'm not sure I believe them.

Apparently there's no name for such a skill.

Maps, sure. Time... I can judge based on position of the sun and the angles of shadows (also good for compass directions). Less accurate at night, obviously.

I usually am pretty good at guessing the time when I wake up. I wake up multiple times a night in 30 minute to 1 hour intervals, though.

I guessed 10.30, and the actual time was 10.05. Is that a pass or a fail?

Absolutely not.

I'm much better with auditory information. Except when it comes to phonetic spelling - which I hate with a passion. If you start telling me "T for Tiger, L for Lamp post" and so on, I'm going to start forgetting that you're using this system and start writing "T4TigerL4Lamp Ost" because my brain zones out. Weirdly, with spelling I find that sometimes if someone asks me to spell something, I can't find the sounds without writing the word. "Hang on let me write it down" "Just say what the letters are in the word" "I can't remember what the letters are until I write it down" "What?" "Yeah I don't understand my brain either but trust me".

Maps are awful. I have a really poor sense of direction (hence the username :P). Digital maps aren't so bad, except when they lag. If you tell me "Just stick North West for -, turn Left, head towards - street, keep walking for - miles and you'll get there" you might as well have said "I'm a pretty lamp post" and it would've made the same amount of sense. I don't understand measurements or directional values. Sometimes I get my left and right mixed up, but not usually. I find it really difficult to give others directions. Which is annoying because sometimes I know exactly where a place is but I can't describe how to get there. I could easily walk there but I've no idea about the steps involved. Which is definitely a trend in the issues I have, knowing how to start a task and get to the end result, but not being able to explain the process. I struggle to visualise or understand concepts such as yards or miles because I always forget how much they are worth and how much time it would take to travel such distances.

I'm bad with time in general. Reading / telling the time, time management and estimating how much time has passed are all areas in which I have difficulty. I remember scoring in the bottom percentile when I was tested on my visual processing ability. Unfortunately, it was tricky to be taken seriously as I was generally labelled "doesn't seem like the type to have learning issues" and "just lazy".

Language makes a lot more sense to my brain. I'm good at improvising and thinking creatively.

Yeah, I'm pretty good with maps. Time I can figure out, but I'm always late everywhere anyway. If there's a way to lose time, I'll find it.

Plus I space out and daydream a lot.

I'm in awe of anyone who can take in auditory information. With me, it literally goes in one ear and out the other, as they say.

If people give me spoken directions, I can't process them. I have subtitles on the TV for every programme because I can't process the spoken words quickly enough or hear them, sometimes.

My world revolves around visual things, that's how I understand and learn. Written language and information is great, spoken language and information goes over my head.

It's amazing how different people are. :D

Yes regarding time, no regarding maps.

I am the same. Good at reading maps and finding my way, and I always know what time it is without a timepiece.

Does anyone else have these skills?

I am very good at reading maps but I cannot tell the time without a clock or watch or without something that shows the time (smartphone, smartwatch, computer, etc.). I know how to use navigation in my car and reading Google Maps. I can "translate" the real world to a map very fast, and back to the real world.

I am also quite talkative and pretty good at languages (native tongue is Dutch, but I speak English, Esperanto and German pretty well) and have a good personal hygiene.
